Ok, I'm a bit confused. We have reservations at Chef Mickeys and I was told to take the bus to the MK and then catch the monorail or walk. If we go on the monorail, is that going to do the whole loop? If so how long does that take? Would it be better to walk there, (unless it is pouring rain) ,and then ride the monorail back.
I have read there is 2 tracks(it's been so long since I've been there I can't remember) and one is for the resorts, so I know that is the one to ride. But do the yboth travel the same way on the circle loop, whihc would make contemporary last. Right???
Thanks for any help!

If I remember correctly, the resort monorail runs from the Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Transportation and Ticket Center and only then to the Contemporary and finally back to the Magic Kingdom. The Express Monorail is not an option, even though it passes the Contemporary right after leaving the Magic Kingdom, it doesn't stop there nor any other hotel.

From the Magic Kingdom bus stop it is probably a leisurly 10 min. walk to the Contemporary, making it at least as fast as taking the Monorail. It is really not that far.

I assume the express one is for those going to the parks form the TTC. I haven't been there in 8 years, but when I went before it went throught the contempory on the way to MK, because I remember seeing people having breakfast. Maybe I'm wrong, but I swore that's how it went, and then throught the GF and POLY when we left to go back. It could've changed since then too, I guess.

I just tried to find a route map or something that shows the direction the monorails travel but couldn't find anything.

Well, unless something has changed, the resort monorail stops at the Contemporary FIRST. We ate at Chef Mickey's when we were there in March and again in September 2006. Definitely take the resort bus to MK and then walk over to the resort monorail.

You're right, the Contemporary is always the first stop on the resort loop. :)

:) Unless its raining, we usually just walk over. It is a 5-10 minute walk. It takes just as long to get to the monorail as to walk over. I actually thought that the Contemporary was the last stop before the Magic Kingdom not the first stop after. I just learned something new from the other posts.

So to be clear, I can catch the monorail at MK, and ride it to the Comtemp. Then afterwars I can either walk back or take the whole loop back over.
thanks for the info!

Yep I just arrived back from WDW and used the monorail frequently to get around. From MK, the monorail goes to the contempary (sp?), transport centre, polynesian, grand floridian and bakc to MK.

Hope that helps :goodvibes
