My mom, sister, daughter and I are headed to the Canon Theatre in October to see Wicked

. We're coming from the London area, and need to consider how best to get there, since we're a little leery of driving in Toronto on a Saturday afternoon/evening. Any recommendations as to the easiest way to get to the theatre? Thanks!

Alllllll the way across the 401 to Younge Street South. :)

Might take a wee bit longer to head south on Younge, but you'll avoid majority of the traffic and the chance of getting lost by doing so.

PS - I'm going to see Wicked myself at the Canon in November for the 4th time. Can't wait! :thumbsup2

I think I've driven the London -> Downtown Toronto route enough times I could do it with my eyes closed (based on the way some people drive I think some of them do drive that way).

I'd suggest you take the 401 to 417 South and then the QEW/Gardiner to downtown and then follow the signs to Yonge Street exit.

Alternately you're just down for the day, you could drive to Yorkdale mall and then take the subway downtown. That way you wouldn't have to deal with any downtown traffic.

Third option is to take the 401 -> 403 to Mississauga and jump onto the Go train along the Lakeshore line, possibly at some place like the Clarkson station - a bit nicer than the subway and even less city traffic.

Final option is to take Via from London to Toronto. Fast and easy with frequent (and sometimes cheap) fares.

And remember Yoda's rule of driving in Toronto... "Merge or merge not. There is no try."

Just seconding the idea of driving to Yorkdale and taking the subway. We routinely do this now for any day trips to Toronto (e.g. plays, ROM, AGO, etc.) and it couldn't be any easier.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. We did do the subway in August when we went to South Pacific. I think, if I recall, we would take the subway southbound 'round to Dundas Street, and then walk over to Victoria.-no transfers. Does that sound right?

That's exactly it. Once you get out of the Dundas station you're only 2 blocks away from the theatre.

I can't help you with driving directions ... but I can tell you that we saw Wicked on Broadway in NYC this summer and it was AWESOME. You and your girls will enjoy it! :)
