How do you get from your house to the airport? I'm debating surprising the wife with a towncar or limo, but my budget would be happier with a shared shuttle service.

While I voted for 'drive myself' my next trip will be a shared shuttle van. If the whole family is going we drive and park at the airport. sometimes if I'm flying by myself, my dh will take me and drop me off. This coming trip is such an early departure that I hated to do that, so will take the shuttle van for $50, one way since we are all coming back together.

we usually drive down the night before and then use the hotels park and fly plan. Leave your car at the hotel while you are gone and use their shuttle to get you to and from the airport.

*puts on spoilt princess crown*

Daddy's taking me

*takes off crown*

It's on his way to work.

Normally we drive or have someone drop us off. This trip we will have a limo since it's our daughter's wish trip! I can't wait! First trip in a limo for the whole family!!!! :cool1:

Isn't that a great way to start your vacation? We have done it the last two trips.... there is no other way to go!

We're very lucky to live about 15 minutes from our nearest airport, and the parking is only $4.25 a day. Cheaper to park than to pay any sort of transportation service.

This is interesting and a real deliemma, sometimes.

I have done the park and fly & parked at airport (but very expensive in chicago). The problem here lies in the fact that we rent a car at disney, and my car insurance told me that if your coverage is on the car your driving they are relieved of there responsibility for your car at the airport. This seemed strange to me, but what my agent told me. Leaving me to believe, that if the car was hit or something happen to it where it was parked, we had no coverage?

Also doing the above options, the ride there is fine, but home? We like to leave at nite from our destinations and are pretty tired driving home. Also, in chicago area you might be digging out 2 weeks of snow at 10pm if its winter?

Family & friends, family is getting too old for airport runs, too much worry. Friends would do it, but you don't like to put people out.

Shuttles in our area are actually almost as much as the limo. :wizard:

Our choice: the limo. Nothing like a nice, quiet ride from the airport after an exhausting day, and flight. It sends you off in style, and you appreciate it for comfort on the way home.

Have a great time, mky

I've thought about driving to the airport and parking for 10 days, but that gets so expensive! I also like the symbolic "our vacation starts now" of being driven to the airport. :)

We drive ourselves, and park at our absolute fave off-airport garage. They have a great frequent parker plan, and DH does a lot of out-of-town day trips for work. Because of the credit he gets for those day trips, we almost never have to pay for the times when we have to leave a car there long-term for vacation. The garage is covered so we don't have to worry about snow, they have a mechanic onsite in case you have minor trouble, and they have free drinks and a warm-up service when you get back. I *love* ParkExpress @ STL.

We used to drive ourselves, but parking at Logan in Boston has gotten so expensive, $22 a day :sad2: that we will be taking a town car this trip. Total cost will be less, no hassles driving, just sit back and relax.

Up through last week, I guess what I used is similar to a shuttle - Logan Express. For those of you not from the area, it's a bus service provided by the airport authority. But that's about to end. Seems they're losing money on the service in my part of the state. Instead of working on a solution (cut back on the number of runs; use smaller vehicles; contract with a private bus company to continue some version of service from the existing location), they've chosen to cancel this branch altogether. They suggest passengers from the thirty or so cities and towns now being served by this location can use the next nearest one. Funny thing about that - given a choice of driving ten miles west to be driven fifteen miles south, or just driving fifteen miles south, well...

Okay, off my soapbox. In the future? Drive to work, then take a cab from there

I'm not sure how a poll will help you since we have different circumstances. My nearest airport is less than a 10 minute drive and I can park for almost free.

If you gave us some details; how much it would cost you to drive/park, how much the shared shuttle cost and how much a limo would cost we might tell you what we'd do under your circumstances.
