I have a trip planned for 2 adults & 1 6-year old for month of July. We will be staying at Pop Century and I decided not to get the dining plan.
Are there any restaurants that are off Disney property that you can get to without a car. I read somewhere that there is an area off Disney property called restaurant row. Is it very far from Downtown Disney? Can you walk to it and if not about how much would a cab cost? Are the restaurants cheaper and is it worth a cab ride?
I am trying to find ways to cut down on food costs. I want to get to a grocery store to get breakfast and lunch items so I might just take a cab to a store like Winn Dixie or maybe just order from Wegoshop.com or Gardengrocer and have everything delivered, but I want to purchase some beer and wine and I read that they don't deliver liquor. Is that true or do they deliver beer?
I am staying at Pop Century. Are there any stores within walking distance of Pop Century or any restaurants within walking distance. I heard that there is a McDonald's near the Allstar resorts. Are there any near Pop Century.
How much would a cab cost from Downtown Disney to Winn Dixie? I am sure that during my 16 day stay I will need more groceries. Will I be able to call Gardengrocer or Wegoshop and place an order on the phone and have it delivered to Pop?
I can't figure Disney out. Most hotels, even the cheap ones have microwaves and refrigerators in the rooms now without any additional charge. Some hotels still charge, but most don't. Last year I stayed on International Drive at the Rodeway Inn and the room had a frig and micro without any additional charge and I paid $57.00 a night plus tax, but this time I wanted to spend 10 days at the Disney parks so it was worthwhile staying on Disney property because the cost of getting from Rodeway Inn to Disney parks is quite expensive, and the buses leave early.
Will Disney ever have microwaves in the rooms of the Value resorts? They should. It's unbelievable that they don't. Did anyone ever bring in their own microwave or a George Foreman grill to cook with to cut down the cost of food?
Thanks for any info you can give.
