Okay FW experts. I am the planner for this trip and there are 13 of us going. I want to make sure I have my transportation down pat. Could y'all please check me to make sure I'm right.

to MK: boat
to MGM: drive
to AK: drive
to Epcot: drive or boat to MK then monorail?

we may use the busses instead of driving it just depends on what turns out to be the easiest.

leaving MK after MVMCP - take resort monorail to TTC. have car parked at TTC. this one really is important. there is NO WAY i will do the boat again after the mad-house that was after MNSSHP.

what is the best way to get to EPCOT? drive or bus or do a monorail somehow?

Thank you in advance for your expertise!
Wendy

I'm no expert but everything looks good so far with your plans. I did take a bus to Epcot and had very good luck with that. Good luck!

We have gotten to the point that we take the boat to MK and drive everywhere else. We have annual passports, so parking at the parks is free! It is much faster at the end of the day to get to your car and drive to your campsite rather than wait in line for a bus at the parks and then either transfer to a FW bus or try to walk.

Agree with driving to MGM and AK. We prefer the boat to MK and boat and monorail to Epcot. But it usually would be faster to drive to Epcot, I guess. You can spend a lot of time in lines and waiting for buses.

Lines aren't bad in the middle of the day, but be weary of the mad house after park closing. The other night at MGM closing it was a mad house to get to Pop Century, they ended up having two busses loading at a time. And even a longer line for Epcot, both at the busses and the boat landing.
We waited for two busses and we were just past the roped in line for the TTC. It probably would've been smart to go to the contemporary and ride the monorail over to TTC, because we ended up having to stand on the bus like a sardine.

Since I have learned all of the back roads around Disney, I drive everywhere except the MK. Most of the time after leaving MK as the park is closing, we will hop on the bus to Wilderness Lodge and then catch a bus to FW. That seems to be a lot faster than standing there waiting on the 3rd boat (which seems to be the one we finally get to board). I really can not figure out why they have a bus to WL and not to FW. I would think they would add that to the schedule. :confused3 Driving everywhere else is just faster. I drive my golf cart to the main parking lot and transfer to our car. I prefer to leave my car out in the main parking lot to give us more room at our site. (6 bicycles and a golf cart take up most of the room)

Mrsgus06 - Would you mind sharing the "back roads"? We'll have a rental and your way sounds better! thanks.

Turn left out of the campground, go to the first light, take a right. The first exit to the right is Epcot, (I am pretty sure it is the first). If you follow the road all the way down until you have to take a left or right, left is Down Town Disney and right is MGM. Also, if you go right and pass MGM, it is easy to follow the signs to AK. I used to take a right out of Ft. W and go around the big loop. I like to think of it as "getting out of the loop". Plus, if you come back that way, you won't have to stop at the MK parking fee collection thingy. :teeth:

Sounds positively wonderful to me! I love "shortcuts". We used Hotel Plaza Blvd as a "outside" shortcut last trip (offsite on Palm Parkway) and I was hoping there was an "inside" shortcut somewhere.

Less than 2 weeks.... guess I better start packing. :rotfl:

Mrs Gus, thanks for the short cuts. We use the same route you suggested, except that I did not know you could get to Epcot from the first right. We usually do it the no-no way, and park at Boardwalk, and walk to Epcot. I'll check out that first-right way, for sure.
