Getting to N and Out Burger

Best part of In N Out is the shakes. Honestly though, they have great prices on fast food compared to a lot of larger chains and the food tends to be fresh which is an added perk. It's not for everyone, but if I'm going to get a fast food burger, this is my favorite place to get one.

Like others said, Uber is probably going to work best for you. Enjoy it. Even if it's not all you expect, remember that it's a southern California thing.

Gosh just came back from there. We took uber to Huntington Beach this morning for a few hours and then took it to In and Out on College Street. Enjoyed our meal and took the uber back to the Grand Californian for like $7 plus tip. First time we used uber and it was very easy. Enjoy!

How much was uber to Huntington beach? I was planning on using uber to go there and prob rent a car the day we go to santa monica and hollywood

I actually agree. I would never go out of my way to go to In N Out, but I know a lot of out of towners want to try it and I won't discourage it. ;)

I love In N Out, because there are a few near my house, one about a mile away, and its cheap. I can feed the family for $12-15, and its good for fast food. And I know what times to go when the line is only a couple cars, not 30+ minutes. But I wouldn't waste Disneyland time for it.

Yeah the Fullerton one is closest...

Which In n Out Burger is closer to a Walmart? The Fullerton one or the College St?..

The In'N'Out on Ball Rd. and State College in Anaheim is the closest to the parks (about 5-10 minutes away by car on surface streets). It is in front of a WalMart supermarket (not a Supercenter). If you need more than a supermarket, then the Fullerton In'N'Out on Harbor may be a better choice.

To save on money instead of paying more to "Animal" style the fries or burger you can ask for a couple packets of animal spread.

We plan to go on our arrival day, which is a non park day. I didn't want to waste park time to go because I have a feeling the lines can be long. I am looking forward to trying it since we have heard so much about it.

Are good hamburgers really that hard to come by? I'm not knocking the OP. I would want to try it, too, if I heard so much about it. Heck, I wanted to go to Cracker Barrel when I was traveling because people talk about it so much and there aren't any near me. My friends ended up taking me there to shop, but said we couldn't eat there. I feel In N Out is very similar to McDonald's or any other fast food place. FWIW, I have 2 In N Outs close to me and when one of kids was still living with me, she wanted me to get something from there on my way home from work often. I'd sit in the car line for 20+ minutes. She thought the food was better. If I was absolutely starving, I'd get something, but that was pretty rare. Mass produced hamburgers, fries and shakes just don't seem special to me.

I guess I am curious if those who love In N Out so much don't eat hamburgers and fries anywhere else. I just don't see a difference.

It's a lot more involved that just adding more spread. Animal style burger patties are coated with mustard before grilling.

The animal style fries have melted cheese along with grilled onions and spread .

There is a HUGE difference between In N Out and basically every other fast food burger. I will only get a fast food burger there. The difference is the freshness. No frozen beef. No frozen fries. Literally everything there is fresh and prepared daily. You can watch them cut up the whole potatoes for fries. You can see the whole heads of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The buns are delivered fresh every day. The patties are not pre formed.

Because their menu is SO limited, the quality is superior. Everything is made to order. Nothing is premade and sitting under warmers. That is why the you have to wait a bit longer.

And the price is still SUPER low. They can keep the prices down because of the high volume they do.

I cannot even look at a McDonald's hamburger without feeling sick. For a few pennies more, In N Out provides a 100% better burger.

I totally agree with DLRExpert that In-N-Out is best for people who like the toppings and sauce on their burgers. We eat there sometimes because they are allergy friendly, if boring to those of us with allergies. DH loves the burgers, though. I just wish they had mayo.

Plenty of people prefer The Habit, or Five Guys. Both cost a lot more than In-N-Out. Almost twice as much. Five Guys is almost as expensive as eating at Red Robin, which is a sit down restaurant.

One thing to know, is that the patties are tiny, only 2 ounces each. My teens prefer to ask for a triple.

If you can eat the bun, the buns at In-N-Out are far better than most fast food places.

The fries aren't double-fried like most places, and again, are far better if you like them with ketchup or animal sauce. They aren't soaked in cold water to remove some starch before frying. They aren't like most fast food fries and I would say they are an acquired taste. You can also order cheese fries and they will put a couple of slices of cheese on an order of fries and then put it in the toaster oven to melt the cheese.

The shakes are pretty good :) Usually very thick. You can mix the flavors, including get a Neapolitan.

In-N-Out is one of the few fast food places you can get 7Up at the soda fountain.

I don't think I would ever choose to walk to In-N-Out from the parks though.

There is no comparison. When I was a kid I ate mcds all the time, now I get a little nauseous just from the smell of McDs. And if I eat it, I feel ill a couple hours later like a grease bomb hit my stomach. Places like In n Out, Five Guys, Burger Lounge, Habit etc actually tastes like real food and doesn't stink like farts. In n Out just happens to be the most affordable of the higher end fast food.

I'm a big fan of In-N-Out, but I think sometimes the hype can lead to some people being let down a bit when they finally get to try it. If you go in expecting a life changing experience, you're going to be disappointed because at the end of the day, it's still just a fast food burger joint.

The things that make them stand out to me are:
-Fresh, high quality ingredients.
-Clean stores.
-Friendly, clean employees.
-Inexpensive prices.
-Consistently good food, cooked to order and not sitting under a heat lamp.

When I was younger I worked doing quality control for a company that supplied their beef. Every other fast food place that we supplied purchased big bins of the trimmings that were left over at the end of the butchering process. In-N-Out bought whole forequarters that had to be inspected meticulously for contamination and then shipped to them to finish the butchering and grind the hamburger.

Protein style and mustard grilled for me, please. And don't forget the well done fries!

My younger son likes plain hamburgers so we order him a double meat plain burger every time. I always get the double double.

I love how willing they are to customize their food items. I always get well done fries also because I like them crispy.

And I think they *might" have mayonnaise if you ask. I've seen it.

I've never had a piece of gristle or a chunk of hard rubbery fat in any In N Out Burger, ever. Their ground beef is probably better quality than the organic, grass fed kind I get at the supermarket.

I wouldn't even bother. It's not as amazing as people say. Eat around the resort.

I think it's a CAian thing. If your option is McDonalds, Burger King, Carl's Jr., and Jack in the Box, then OF COURSE it's the best thing ever! Then they leave their state and won't shut up about it, making it seem like a wonderful thing. I live in beef country, so you can get a burger anywhere. Not that big of a deal, but of course, I had to try it. My first day in CA, the very first thing I did was eat there because that's where my friend took me. You are in CA. you MUST do this. It was basically an initiation process. It was very busy, extremely limited menu, and my burger was over done.

Amen! We tried it this summer, and, honestly, I thought, "We just waited for 20 minutes for... this?!"

In 2011 they finally opened locations in TX. People were crying on camera, several hour lines, some even camped out. 3 months later, during the week, at 3pm, we went. 45minute wait. Got it to go, immediately drove to Whataburger, got the exact same thing, went home, did a blind taste test. Both burgers tasted the EXACT same. With added salt, both fries also tasted the exact same too!

There is a HUGE difference between In N Out and basically every other fast food burger. I will only get a fast food burger there. The difference is the freshness. No frozen beef. No frozen fries. It's been 6 years since they came to TX, so this probably has changed, but they used the EXACT SAME distribution/storage center as Whataburger. Typically they have their own, but they weren't ready yet, while their restaurants were. This may be why they tasted the exact same. Same cow, same potato. They aren't slaughtering the cow out back, and it certainly isn't being sent to the store in a hot truck.

But that "freshness" novelty is why you can't have bacon or even avocado on your burger. However, at Whataburger, you can order a double double with bacon and avocado, or anything else you want, you just have to be specific (since a double double legally can't be on their menu) It's a "secret menu" only it's not, because like with INO everyone already knows you can order this, so they'd will never call it that, as that's silly.

I'm planning on stopping at an In and Out on our way to DL. Somewhere on the way, I remember driving past a couple off the freeway! So, I checked out the blog, is animal style on the menu or do you have to know?
