We are leaving next week to head to FW and will spend 2 days at MK. We have a PPO ADR one morning and are planning on rope dropping the other. Can someone walk me through how to actually get to the gates of MK? Its seems there's a boat from FW, but does that just take you to TTC? Also someone said you could take a boat to Contemporary and then walk to MK? Then I was looking on easyWDW and he said something about the express resort monorails are going to be down? Does this effect us at all? We will have a car, if we just drive to the TTC, how do we get to MK? What about bus options?
Sorry for the many questions and thanks for any help! I was a kid last time I was at WDW and don't remember any of this! lol

The boat to Disney drop you right up front of Bag Check at MK. If you are looking at MK, the Ferry from TTC will on your right and the Monorail will on your left. If you need to get there extra early for your ADR, you may want to drive. Just go out the way you came in and you will be forced to turn right, then take a left at the Light which go in front of the Poly, then it will merge into the out traffic, around the area of the Speedway/Hess make sure you stay in the left lane and you will see a sign (its before the MK Parking pay attendees) for you to turn left to loop back in the TTC parking lots.

As far as the boats, if you do the direct boat to MK, its the one on the left of the docks, it does stop at WL. The one to the right does a loop to WL, Contemporary and FW. You can normally take the Contemporary boat and walk (to walk just go all the way thru as you are dropped off at the back of the resort on the boat and out the front door and keep to the sidewalk and it takes you right past the bus drop offs to MK and to the front gate) or monorail to MK from there for your early ADR as well if you do not want to drive as well as that boat normally starts earlier than the MK boat. I have taken the MK and made rope drop many times.

There are also bus options, just have to go back to the front area where the main bus station is (you will see it when you get there as its by the check in area and in front of the horse barns). There are buses that take you to each park, water parks and DDT/DS as well. There are also buses that run internally in FW and those are colored buses, depending on the loop you are in depends what color bus you need.

Thank you so much! Your response was super helpful! I'm sure it will all be fun and neat especially for the kids, but just looking at it, it looks like a nightmare! lol

Its really easy once you get there and get the feel for all of it. Just remember where the the bus depot is and the boat launch and the rest is easy :) Spend a day exploring all the boats and monorails to the other resorts, its fun I promise!

There are no "early" buses to MK from the Fort. We needed to get to MK early and (after lots of misinformation from one of the CMs in the office) we were found out that the only bus to MK in the morning was from Wilderness Lodge. We were so fortunate to have one of the internal buses offer to actually take us over to the Lodge so that we could hop on their MK bus and we made it in time for rope drop and our tour. That driver saved the day for us...makes us so appreciate the Disney magic!

Just take the boat to Contemporary. This is usually the easiest way to the MK if you need to be there before RD for ADRs. We've had to use this route 3 times and done great.

The boat to the Contemporary begins at 6:45 and the walk to MK is about 10 minutes.

What Tiggerdad said! The boats are quite fun and one of the best benefits of heading over before park opening is this:

Signs, signs, everywhere they're signs. pirate: We went to FW last year for first time, and it was the first time we didn't drive to the parks. We had to get used to ALL the signs, they will tell you where to go, which buses/boats go where, the buses have signs, the parks have signs, everywhere there are signs. One thing we first didn't realize at WL was the buses that go around the loops will take you to the front Outpost and there you catch Another bus to wherever you are going, so just look at the front of the buses which flash where they are headed. Not all buses are going everywhere. Our loop was close to the Settlement, and found that taking the boat was a very easy, enjoyable way to get to MK. So that entire last trip we never drove anywhere, that was the first time we ever did that.
