getting to Manchester Airport

Hi,

Well DH has decided that he is confused - not like a bloke to accept he doesn't know where he is going

We'll be trelling to Manchester airport down the M6 and the directions from pretty much all websites giving directions is to take the M60 which we did last year but got caught up in horrible traffic.

It looks like a better route would be to continue down the M6 to the M56 and then along there.

Does anyone know the best route to the irport when heading south on the M6? Junction numbers would make me look all th emore intelligent

I will now probe my husbands taxi-driver brain.

You are right, the M56 is by far the easier option.

So just come down the M6, straight onto the M56 (he thinks Junc No 20) and the airport is exactly 10 miles from the M6. It is really well signposted as you come down the M6 so dont bother with the M60 at all. That would just confuse things!

I think it might be junction 20 where the 2 motorways meet. An online map I looked at seemed to suggest coming off the junction before for some reason but we'll keep going until we get to the M56.

Not long now - 3 days from now we'll probably be leaving Orlando airport

The M56 ( and the airport ) is well signposted, it's just after you go across Thelwall Viaduct. Just be careful and take your time because there are multiple exit slip roads round that point of the M6.

we travel up the M6 from dudley and we always use the M56 then onto A road, this will be the best way. it is really straigt forward.

m6 then m56 if you go the m60 route there are roadworks and at weekends there are closers at night sometimes
