Getting to Legoland?

If this isn't the right forum, I apologize.

If we were to leave Disney property for one day to do LEGOLAND (my son's DREAM destination), what's the best way to get there? I lean towards renting a car for the day but didn't know if there are any shuttles or if a taxi would be cheaper (I'm guessing not since LEGOLAND is a bit of a distance away).

Legoland is far and I would rent a car, but there is a shuttle. You would take a cab to the shuttle location from Disney.
