Inspired by Lisa's "Santa almost missed it" story

Share some Christmas stories

Aww, Zeus and I are an inspiration. The only thing that general inspires that dawg is cookies. Okay, he has been known to nap a pineapple upside down cake that was slated for a crop once too!

Understand Zeus is probably 120 pounds, though his human mother says he weighs under 100. :sad2: One Christmas Eve they asked us to doggy sit (and horse sit but they stayed in the barn) so they could spend Christmas Eve at her parents.

DD was up most of the night trying to catch Santa. At 5:00 am I get the coldest, wettest nose nuzzling my ear, with a gentle woof. I told him to lay down. He was persistant with a louder WOOF. I sprang from my bed. You never saw me move so fast. Santa delivered that year!

And that my friends is the story of how Zeus saved Christmas. And yes, it is in the scrapbook. :goodvibes

When DS was 3, he understood that stuff was for him. We told him to wake us up when he got up. We were up late doing the santa stuff, and well, we figured he'd listen and remember...

I woke up to the sound of ripping paper... I shook DH up and we ran...and there was this cute kid...paper everywhere...a bunch of gifts unwrapped, and he was just looking sooo happy, what could we do? We just laughed...

Then when this same DS was maybe 6, he didn't sleep all night. My mom was down, and was in the room with him (we had a tiny house). Anyway, we were able to do santa stuff, but it wasn't easy. He kept us up all night, coming in our room...even was knocking on the wall...tap, tap, tap, tap...

When it was morning, we all went down, he opened his gifts...said he was tired, and went up to bed. WE all had to stay up, with like no sleep. I remind him of that every time he mentions something that his little brother did, I just start knocking, and don't stop till he says alright MOM!!

:lmao: Debbie that is tooo funny!!! I was the kid that couldn't sleep either. My kids are the EXACT opposite! We have to wake them up every year because DH and I are too excited to wait. It's normally 7:30 or 8 when we wake them. Absolutely ridiculous for Christmas morning- why is that every other day of the year they are up at the crack of dawn? :confused3

I guess one of my favorite memories was when DD was 10 months. I caught her chewing on one of the presents. It happened to be my dad's- he loves stuff like that and I am pretty sure he still has the little box and paper that she chewed on.

us to Ashley. we have to wake bubba up. and he likes to hang around in the morning. i think we have 5 years of him just sitting in front of the tree with all the presents yawning!!! no had that be me i would have been tearing into those gifts!

Under a 100 pounds my foot!! LOL

What a good boy! Did he get extra cookies in his stocking??

My DS has always been able to sleep on Christmas Eve and we'd have to go wake him up Christmas morning. It drove me batty because I've always been too excited to sleep and I'm so anxious for us all to get to the tree to open presents. My Mom had a firm rule that I wasn't allowed out of my room on Christmas morning until she'd had a cup of coffee. That coffee took a lot longer to brew on that day than any other!!!!!

My favorite Christmas story with DS is when he was 2 years old. I had DH pick DS up from daycare so that I could put the tree up and surprise DS when he came home. We didn't have many ornaments at that time so I used all kinds of things. One of the ornaments was the top of one of those tubes of M&M's. The top was the yellow peanut M&M wearing a Santa hat. Well, DH and DS get home and DS walks in the door and sees the tree all decorated and lit and his face just lights up. Then, he runs to the tree pointing and yelling "Look it's Humpty Dumpty!" pointing to the M&M tube topper. Everybody that came to our house that year had to see the Humpty Dumpty ornament. And, of course, that cute story made it to where I couldn't part with the M&M tube topper and it proudly gets put on our tree every year and DS gets to hear the Humpty Dumpty story each year as I unwrap it to hang. I think if it were up to him, he'd throw ol' Humpty Dumpty in the trash!!!!!:lmao:

what a great story DIT! love the humpty dumpty story! maybe you should take a pic of it and put that story in writing and scrap that! those are the things that i love.
thank you for sharing it with us.

You lucky people that have to wake up your kids....

Our rule is you have to wait till 6am :lmao:

Love these stories! Kids are so funny!

I have a funny DH story too. Our first Christmas together, I bought DH a sweatshirt that said "I'm a Toys R Us Kid". It was a joke to me... Well the next year, he wore that shirt for Christmas morning....and we got a good laugh. And then he wore it the next Christmas, and the next, and the next...and this one it will be 24 yrs that sweatshirt has been there at Christmas morning. Over the years he keeps telling me it shrunk in his drawer too :rotfl2: The kids were making a joke the other day, but still, they seem to expect to see that shirt

hey deb, i have one of those shirts. mine is a purple sleeve baseball shirt. i love mine. i have not worn it in years, but it's still in my drawer. tell dh :thumbsup2 i'm all about it!

Lets see the funniest was when DD was 4. DH and I had just got married. it was our first christmas together. I have this really nice santa hat that we always wore christmas morning. usually whoever was handing out the gifts. Well DH decided he was going to wear it. Christmas used to be huge production with breakfast at my moms, dinner at my grandmas, dessert at my aunts. So we had to start at like 7-7:30 so we could open our gifts at home, and move to the next place.

Anyways we went in to wake DD and DH was standing in the doorway (with the santa hat on) and the lights were off in the bedroom. She popped up and started screaming SANTA!! and went running, got to the doorway and relazied it was DH and said "Oh its just YOU, dad" and stomped back to bed. :lmao:

She was pretty grumpy the rest of the morning. Kept saying we tricked her. :rotfl:
