I found DISUnplugged on YouTube one day while looking for random Disney videos to watch. This is something I do in between trips to keep myself sane until my next trip. Yes – I vicariously live through other people’s Disney vacation experiences. I love Disney! Walt Disney World is my home since I was 4-years-old, I was lucky in that my family would visit every year. I’m 46 now with kids whom I’ve happily brainwashed with Disney! (Daughter is a former Castmember) Sorry for the rambling.

I found the 7 Resorts in 7 Days and I was hooked. In search of more DISUnplugged fixes I discovered the Podcast. The DISUnplugged Podcast opened a whole new world for me!!

I had recently started a new job, farther from home, and I hated the commute. Back then, I hated everything actually (except Disney)! I felt sorry for myself for having lost a great job close to home and now here I was driving one hour to and from work! (You know, the woe is me, cue in the violins moments)

I tried Satellite Radio, I tried audio books, I tried calling friends to and from work to keep me company during my commute, but nothing worked! Until I found the DISUnplugged Podcast!!!

It’s been a little over 6 months since I’ve been listening. I’m now a loyal listener and when I’m waiting on a new episode, I simply go back and listen to older shows in an attempt to catch up!

Yesterday, I came across “Get to Know the Team,” dated 5/12/2015. One of my favorite shows thus far, the team poured their hearts out, confessed their moments of down and out. Whereas all team members’ stories are inspirational, Craig and Kevin's story pulls heart strings, Teresa’s is endearing, and Pete’s exemplifies determination. I’m old enough to know that life is not perfect, the team reminded me that we’ve all been through some rough patches in our life but eventually everything turns out the way it should in the end, and the outcome is usually in our favor, if we have patience and perseverance.

Thank you TEAM, once again, for sharing your history and for keeping me sane and in control during my heinous commute to and from work! I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, thanks to the DISUnplugged Podcast… I no longer make obscene hand gestures and scream at my fellow commuters!!!!

Everything you have said (including using the podcasts to get through "work stuff") applies to me as well, and is also what caused me to fall in love with The Team, and all the products they put out, as well as this forum, and my fellow posters. I'm glad to hear you are in a better place now because of it, and I hope that continues for you. Oh - and welcome to this little corner, it's pretty cozy! :)

That particular show is one of my all time favorites. I really liked hearing everyone's unique back story. The biggest take away of the episode for me is how you just never know where life can take you. Love it. :thumbsup2

My favorite dining reviews of theirs include.. Ohana, Liberty Tree Tavern ("the bread was like something you make with flour and water on a pirate ship" :rotfl:), Via Napoli (lmao @ John and Kevin trekking all around World Showcase only to find Kathy who had arrived via a shuttle), Shutters (this is by far the funniest), and of course the Sad Little Crab Cake @ Coral Reef.

Kevin and John's discriminating food palates deserve a show of their own! They are extraordinarily articulate in their hysterical descriptions and reviews of the food they have sampled throughout Walt Disney World.

One thing I've always wondered is what is the origin of your DIS board name "safetymom"?
Safety Mom is the name they used in an newspaper article back in the days when I ran several car seat loaner programs. My late husband said to me, "What is Safety Mom doing today?" The newspaper added that to the story. Then when I joined the DIS I wanted Disney Mom but it said it was taken. I used safetymom to join then. I didn't figure I was going to from someone who enjoyed the DIS boards to where I am today. If I had to do it all over again I don't know what name I would choose.

Good to know, thanks!

SafetyMom, I heard your story during one of the New Jersey Meets Podcasts, you were audibly emotional, as I soon became upon hearing your story.

SafetyMom is a beautiful tribute to your husband who was obviously very proud of you and still is as he watches over with pride.

However... if you ever were to change your name... Fearless Mom would be appropriate too.

Thank you. My late husband used to introduce himself at various events I volunteered at as Mr. Kathy Werling. :) :) I don't know that I was fearless I didn't have a choice with 3 young kids depending on me. I had to succeed for them.

Well you absolutely remind me of my mom, who I consider the pinnacle of parenting. She has always been about working hard to provide for her family while raising them in the best way possible. Even now as a retiree, and with me in my 40's, I always wait for her to smack me in the back of the head when I do something stupid. I think this is the very definition of a safety mom.
