Hello!

I have a question about getting to IOA from two seperate WDW Hotels. Here is our situation. My friend and I are traveling with our families (friend with her dh and dd, me and my dd) -- so five us of total.

My friend is staying at CBR and I am at ASMu. We want to go to IOA for one day.

What is the cheapest way to get there for all of us?

Our options:

1- Car rental --- not really into this

2- Mears shuttle - $18 per person round trip

3- Taxi cab -- now here is where we are trying to estimate the cost. What do you think the cost would be to pick one family up, travel to the second groups hotel, and then head to IOA--- then do the return with the possibility of only dropping off at one hotel so we all could have dinner together there.

Thanks!

I think you should stick with the rental car. It's easier to divide the cost and you can go when you're ready...no schedule to keep. You would have to pay to park but again...splitting it up shouldn't be an issue.

You might also want to check out the sticky on the subject:

I am staying at the Sheraton Vistana off site. For 10 person van from there to Universal round trip is around $100 + tip.

7I would bet for 5 people, it would probably run you about $70 or so.

the shuttle was increased to $19 per adult.
children's fare increased by $1.

you are looking at about $87 plus tip by using the shuttle.

you can get a taxi for $35-40 each way if you don't go in rush hour.
you are paying for mileage and time in the taxi.
taxi could cost $70 - $80 plus tip round trip.

the taxi is faster than the shuttle.
the shuttle can make stops at other resorts.

if all of you would go to dtd and get the taxi there, it would be cheaper.
wait, i don't think the disney buses run that early in the morning.
well, you could do the return to dtd and then take a bus back to your resort.

if not, have the 2 families meet at one hotel for the taxi pick up.
it would be cheaper that way.

I will be doing it in August and looked at it very hard, and decided the taxi is the best bet. We are 4, including one "child" (< 10yo). The rental car - you then have to pay for parking and you have to schlep a pretty long way to the gates. The shuttle - multiple stops - cannot reserve until just before that day - it's on their schedule. Taxi - yes, not cheap but you have all the flexibility and they take you to front gate.

You will still need to walk when you take a cab...just not as far as if you were driving.
