(Not sure if I should post here or in the WDW/Trasportation Board, but I want a "Universal" perspective.)

Staying at RPR. Going to Magic Kingdom one day and Blizzard Beach another. Given the cost of a airport pick-up and grocery stop, would I be smart just to rent a car instead? If I don't, what are my options for getting to those places other than a taxi? I assume there are a fair number of folks who stay at one park but go to both, and I'm just wondering the most efficient/cost-effective way to do that.

Would love to hear if you have any ideas. Thanks!!

I would say that it depends on the rates you get for a car rental. If you can get a good deal, it might just be worth it. We called a taxi when we transfered to WDW from Universal and it was very expensive. I understand that some people use Mears too but I don't know how that works. You might want to send Mears a message to see how they do these things and how much it costs.

If you have a big party (4 or more), I would call Tiffany Town car. They are much less expensive then Mears, since you pay per car, not per person. I'm not sure how much they would be for this kind of trip, but they are very nice when you call them, and they have coupon for five dollars off on their web site.

We always use them for airport transfers. They hold a sign with your name on it, pick up your luggage, get you a sky cab (you know how hard that is  ), go around and get the car in the parking lot and pick you up curb side. They will let you make a 20 minute grocery stop and drop you off front and center at your hotel. Then they pick you up for your flight back and do the same. The cars are very nice, and it is such a relaxing way to start your vacation (my hubby hates to drive on vacation). For us, this service is cheaper than Mears and we don't have to stop 50 times for everyone else to get to their stop. Just a heads up for everyone!

You're better off renting the car if making more than 1 trip.

Going from USF to Disney for 3 people round trip averages out to be $60 (plus tip). Going from the airport to your hotel will be $30. Get the idea? It's about $30 to go from point A to point B for 3 people.

Here's the thread where I found out the prices of the services when my wife drove up with a friend and had to use one.
