Getting to DLR from Grand Californian

I feel completely stupid asking this, but if we're staying at the Grand, how do we get to the DLR gate? If we have park hoppers, we can just go through CA, right? Can we take the monorail?

There are no stupid questions here
Easiest way to get to DL is to walk through downtown Disney. There are signs in the GCH Lobby with directions to downtown Disney, its very easy & you can always ask a CM if you feel confused.
-monorail has 2 entries. One in Downtown Disney & one in Tomorrowland (turn left when entering DtD from GCH for the monorail, turning right will send you towards the park entrances)
-There's no time saved entering DCA to get to DLR

From the GHC lobby you have two options to get to DL....there is a walkway to DTD then you walk to the Esplanade between DL and DCA gates...or you can use the DCA gate from the GCH and cut through DCA and exit to the Esplanade. I have timed it...bout routes are exactly the same time but all things being equal we typical walk through the DTD route if headed to DL Park.

As mentioned above if you go though DTD, you can turn left and hop on the Monorail which will dump you in Tomorrowland but that is rarely quicker and much less magical then entering though Main Street.

Here`s the way thru DTD. The map is mislabeled. Where it says Downtown Disney District is actually the roof of GCH .

For me the quickest way into DL is to go through downtown Disney. Taking the monorail would take a lot longer as it is out of the way in a different direction.
You can walk through DCA, but normally that takes longer, although it can be a more fun route.
