Getting to Captain's Grille - walk from Epcot? Or bus/boat from Springs?

It was recommended in a previous post of mine, and I realized I had no idea where the Yacht Club was, so I pulled up the map on MDE and had an epiphany! It appears to me that you can walk to the resort or any of the resorts in that area from Epcot. Is this right? Or is the map deceiving? We will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside, but if we can simply walk to the Yacht Club (or Beach Club if we do the Cape May Café instead) then we should make that be our meal on our Epcot day correct? Otherwise it would be a boat or bus to Disney Springs then boat to Yacht Club and reverse it to get home?

There is no boat from DS to YC. There is a boat from DHS & Epcot . Walking from Epcot is the easiest way.

Exactly this. The easiest thing to do is walk from EP. I just answered your post about ESPN Club as well. You could totally kill two birds with one stone here, if you wanted to. Walk out of EP for dinner at Capt. Grille then walk over to ESPN to look inside and buy your souvenir. EP, BC and the Boardwalk are all within walking distance of each other.

Was just about to say this. It seems to be a very common misconception. There is no boat that would get you from Disney Spring to the Epcot resort area. You could take a bus from Disney Spring or a boat/walk from the international gateway at Epcot.

Just watch the time/season you are thinking of going. If it is summer and you have a late afternoon/ealry evening booking then the weather might be "interesting". Although a fairly short walk from the Wrold Showcase to Yacht/Beach club, you would still have to walk from the bus stop at the front of Epcot all the way through the concrete part. It might be easier just to get the resort bus from Disney Springs direct to Yacht Club.

We are going the first week in March. So, right now I have our Captain's meal for 6 PM on an Epcot day. Our plan is to go to Epcot sort of late and have a early lunch or just snack here & there. Then walk over to our dinner, followed by walking the Boardwalk area. Question 1) is this a place we would feel ok showing up in "park wear" or should we clean up a bit? We do enjoy sprucing up before dinner once or twice during our trip, but honestly it's not worth going back to resort for that sole reason. Question 2) are you saying that even if we have a park day at Epcot before our dinner, we should avoid entering that way? Because we can always rescheduled our Captain's dinner on a Disney Springs day and take the bus instead of the way I have it planned right now.

1. Yes park wear is fine.
2. If you are already in Epcot it is fine, I think they were thinking you were just going to Epcot to walk through it to get to the IG. You do need to keep in mind how you are going to get back to your resort. If your meal, etc. is finished before Epcot closes, it's no problem to go back through IG and through Epcot to the buses. If Epcot is not open, you are either going to have to Uber/Taxi or do the DS bus thing. We always stay at the Epcot resorts so find the walk through Epcot no big deal and do it all the time to get on the monorail to go to MK instead of taking the bus. We are big walkers though and always walk to HS as well instead of taking the boat from YC or Swan/Dolphin. We also walk from HS to Epcot.

Captains Grille is quite nice - park wear is fine but you wouldnt be out of place if you wanted to spruce up a little. We just wore parkwear when last there and werent out of place.

As for Q2 - no - i misread your original - if you are already in Epcot then definitely walk over - no need to consider any other option.

If the weather is good and you havent already seen it - I suggest walking round the "long way" along the boardwalk then round to Yacht Club. Not a long walk and nice to see it.

Looks like your questions have been answered but I'll just second that it is a short 5-10 minute walk from the international gate (which I always call the "back gate") at Epcot to Captain's Grille. You leave Epcot and follow the sidewalk over to Yacht Club. You can either enter Beach Club (which is connected to Yacht Club) and follow the halls along the back of that resort to Captain's Grille or take the sidewalk past Beach Club and Storm Along Bay (the pool) and enter Yacht Club and Captain's Grille is immediately to the right of the entrance. There are a number of restaurants in that resort/Boardwalk area - Cape May, Yachtsman, Captain's Grille, Beaches & Cream, ESPN Club, Flying Fish and Big River Grille. On the how to get back even if Epcot is closed you can walk to Hollywood Studios and catch a bus form there back to your resort. It is a little further then the Epcot walk but not unmanageable and hey then you are burning the calories from dinner so it is kind of a win win. I wouldn't do it with tired kiddos though unless you have a stroller.

Actually, it looks like Hollywood Studios closes at 7 pm the first week in March. By the time the OP is done with her dinner & goes to ESPN, the Studios will be closed & going there for transportation back to their resort might not work. If you do go to ESPN after your dinner OP, you can catch a bus from Boardwalk Inn to Disney Springs to catch a bus back to your resort or walk back thru Epcot if you are done by 9pm. We stay at Y & B every trip, we often see people coming into the International Gateway at 9 pm as we are leaving. So you should be able to go back thru Epcot at 9 to walk thru to catch a bus directly to your resort from there.

With a 6 pm adr at Captain's Grill, you should have plenty of time to eat, look around the area, visit ESPN & get back into Epcot in time for Illuminations if you wan to see it that night. If not, still plenty of time to get back & catch a bus from Epcot.

True. Or take a cab/Uber from Yacht Club to Port Orleans. Would take 10-15 minutes and cost less than $20.

We were on I-drive over Christmas and I used Uber for the first time - used it a lot over 9 days and it was excellent.

If I have a late dinner planned at a hotel other than the one I'm staying at I take the bus to Disney Springs and then bus or boat back to my hotel.
