Getting to Boma?

We have an ADR for Boma at 7pm. We're staying at POR but have tentatively planned to be at DTD earlier. Whether we go to DTD or not, would it be easier to get to AKL by taking the boat to DTD then a bus to AKL? Or, alternatively, would it be easier to drive? I'm not good driving in an unknown are -- especially at night. Too many turns and I'd be on my way to Miami before I know it!! :lmao:

Although driving is quicker catching the boat and then the bus I would always recommend as its a lot more fun

Consider how you would get back to POR after your dinner at Boma. Transferring at DTD or a theme park other than AK will be time-consuming. If AK is open late enough (evening EMH), it would be easy to transfer there. Otherwise, I would suggest driving. We find WDW easy to navigate as there are ample signs along the way.

I never have a car with me at WDW so we rely on the buses, boats, monorails, etc., but I have to say that the one instance where I really would like to have a car is for eating dinner at other resorts. We ate at Boma last year for dinner and had no problem getting there as we had spent the day at AK and then just took the AKL bus. However, getting back to the Dolphin after dinner was a nightmare. We hopped on the first bus that came which happened to be DTD so we could transfer to our resort's bus. Well, we waited a REALLY long time for our bus in the pouring rain under the crowded bus shelters at the DTD Marketplace stop. DBF and I were so crabby from the waiting and the rain, we got in a petty argument. A car would have been GLORIOUS that night!

Of all the resorts - getting from POR to DTD is about the shortest combo.

Our family almost always dines at Boma, so I've lots of practice at getting back from there. Much of the time, we go there directly from a park, then either use our car or take a taxi back, or head back to a park after dinner.

If you are coming from your resort, and going back to your resort after dinner, I'd probably take the car. It will be fastest, and you won't have to wait.

If you are coming from DTD, then personally, I'd PROBABLY take the bus over and take the bus/boat combo back (there MIGHT also be a bus available from DTD, like WL offers both a bus and boat. Not sure.) The boat is certainly a fun ride back.

If youa re at all pressed for time though the car may well be faster. At DTD it will depend where you park, and it's certainly possible to get lost driving around WDW. Also, someone will have to refrain from adult beverages. If it is raining or very cold though the car would be best.
