I may be being stupid, but is there a direct bus from POP to BW, or do I need to go to DTD or a them park first?

No direct bus from POP to BW. You can hop on the bus to MGM at POP. Then when you get to MGM, you can either take the boat to BW, or take the pathway. I prefer the path. To find it....head towards the canal at MGM entrance. The park will be on your left, the parking lot on the right. Stay on the sidewalk, it will drop down a slope, towards the canal. Then it runs right along the canal. It will go under a bridge, and then you'll be at BW, on your right. You can take a shortcut if you cut through the Luna Park Pool area. Then head to the tunnel type thing right after you go past the pool..this puts you on the Village Green, in the middle of all the fun!! The walk will take you about 15 minutes.

Isn't there a Chance Card that will send you there? Or is it Community Chest?

PS - As mentioned, the best way is a bus to MGM and walk/boat. You could also take a bus to MK/AK/DTD (but not Epcot) and transfer, but that would probably take longer.

just so you know , there's no transportation resort to resort, except the monorail at MK resorts

To be nitpicky for a second, there is no trasportation that is designed to be resort to resort, but there are situations where resorts share busses that can be used as direct transportation. There is also the EPCOT -> MGM boat, which can be used as direct transportation between the Epcot resorts.

I knew that, but isn't the Boardwalk an attraction by itself? Is it worth spending an evening at? It sounded cool, and since I've never been to, I thought it would be worth a stroll.

We love the whole Boardwalk area. Would I plan to spend an entire evening there? That depends. Are you going to have kids with you? There are jugglers, magicians...that type of thing, on the boardwalk itself. If you don't have kids, there is JellyRolls and Atlantic Dancy Co. When we haven't been actually staying at BW, we have spent about 2 hrs there, just enjoying the atmosphere.
