I am trying to figure out how to get to the Hoop de Doo review (I think it's in Pioneer Hall) from either the Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios. I hear there is a boat from MK that drops off right near Pioneer Hall. Do you have to have a ticket to MK in order to use the boat service? I don't have hoppers and I may spend the day at HS. From HS what is the best way to get to Hoop de Doo?

Also I understand that there are buses that will go from the Hoop De Doo to your resort directly. I will be staying at All Star Movies. Can anyone confirm this?

thanks!

Yes, there is a boat from MK that will go directly to the Ft Wilderness Marina, which is a short walk to Pioneer Hall. No special tickets are needed for the boat service.

From DHS, it would be best to take a resort bus to the Wilderness Lodge. From there you could either walk through the resort to WL's marina or transfer to another bus to Ft Wilderness. I can't remember whether the bus takes you directly to the "Settlement" (where Pioneer Hall is located) or to the "Outpost" where you will have to transfer to another bus.

WDW does not run buses from HDD to the resorts, with the exception of WL. Your probably better off taking the boat back to MK, then bus to ASM.

A few other points.

1. Yes its in Pioneer Hall at the Fort Wilderness (FW) Campground.

2. You don't need admission to the MK to get on the boat to FW. The boat drops off at the marina which is at the "back" of the resort i.e. not near the front desk.

This site has an archive of all the maps that Robo has posted over the years. http://www.stitchkingdom.com/maps/

I tried to link directly to the map for FW but something isn't working right. Just look at this one. Fort Wilderness Overview

3. FW is a WDW resort like all other WDW resorts and has transportation to and from the parks. You can just take the FW bus from DHS. The only other issue is that you have to take a short bus from the front of the resort, where the bus drops you off, to the back where pioneer hall is. You can go to the Wilderness Lodge an take a boat, a bus or even walk to the Pioneer Hall area of FW. The walk is I think under a mile along a wilderness trail.

4. For the later shows they will have buses back to all the resorts and you will share a bus with other resorts. For the earlier shows just take the FW boat back to the MK and get your bus from there.

thanks for the great info. My show will be at 715pm on a Thur. I believe MK will still be open until 11pm that night so i should be able to take the boat there and then transfer to my resort bus. thanks!

The wrinkle here is that the bus from DHS to FtW stops at WL first anyway. So it should be faster to get off at WL and take the bus from there to FtW Settlement (about a 5 min. ride) than to stay on the bus until FtW Outpost where you will have to take a 10 min. bus ride to the Settlement.

There will be buses lined up after the show to take you directly back to your resort. When we saw Hoop de Doo, we were staying at the All Star resorts too! After a long day, you definitely want to take the quickest way back to the room.

thanks for the great info everyone. This will be my family's 1st trip and we are a little nervous about figuring out how to get around with Disney transportation.

I hate to be persnickety, but it is the Hoop De doo Revue (not review).

now, a critic can do a "review" of a "revue" but a song and dance show is a Revue. and the critic will do a review of the revue...

and I would take the bus from all star to Mk, then the boat over to fort wilderness..a dn leave yourself a good hour and a half.. (if you are early, just get a beer or soda, there are picninc tables, a couple checkers set ups.)

I would not count on taking a bus over to fort wilderness and then depepnding on the internal buses.. unless there is bad weather.. in which case (lightning) they might not run the boats..

Just wondering if everyone would agree that this method of "to and from" is still the best... going from All Star Sport to MK and taking the boat. Once the bus drops me off at MK, is there signs pointing to the boat...

If it's bad weather.. Do I still take the All Star Sport bus to Magic Kingdom and then a BUS to Fort Wilderness?

I'm leaving tomorrow so just trying to iron out all my plans :)

1. yes Well there is a sign showing which dock to go to but not really a sign at the bus saying FW this way.

2. If the weather is bad enough to keep the boats from running, pretty sure they would start running a bus. But now it may get tricky because now they may drop off in front. Just just expect the boat.

There aren't buses running to the various resorts if MK is still open...especially if it's an earlier show. There may very well always be buses after the late show. Believe me...those buses are not always the quickest way. They don't go directly to specific resorts..they lump about 5 resorts on one bus. It can take quite awhile to get to your resort.

That would be the perfect way to do it. That's what we do.
As far as weather goes...it takes really bad weather for the boats not to run. You should be fine.

We stayed on grounds for the first time in 2007. Thought the best introduction to Disney would be the Hoop De Doo the very first night. We took the boat there (boy was it cool that night) but when the show was over we were expecting to be taken back to our hotel. Boy were we wrong....they took us to Magic Kingdom. Having never stayed on the grounds before I figured we had to jump on the ferry back over to the parking lot to get back to hotel....WRONG! We got over there on the VERY LAST ferry leaving the MK only to discover that the buses were on the MK side of the lake! We got some very poor information telling us that we'd have to walk to Polynesian to get a bus (buses do NOT go from hotel to hotel). This nightmare finally ended with the capt of the ferry literally taking 5 very lost guest over to the MK on a big ole ferry all by ourselves. Yes we took the bus back to the hotel from the MK SIDE of things and learned a very valuable lesson. I hope someone reading this that might be in the very same shoes as we were learn from my 'Disney lesson' and not make the same mistake,:teacher:

We were told that busses do not go from one resort to another so if we need to get to a resort, take a bus to the nearest park then hop on a resort bus to get where we are going.
