Question.....or I should say "opinion".

Our flight from home leaves at 7:00 am. I was looking into having a shuttle van service come pick us up in the morning and then also take us home when we return. The cost came to $23.50 each way. We live within a mile of the airport! I'm just wondering if this is a better way to go instead of having a family member or friend come take us so early. When I got the quote from the shuttle place, the suggestion picking us up at 5:30am!!! OMG!! :bitelip:

What does everyone think is the better way? My sister offered to come in and take us but she lives an hour away. I feel bad already because we need to find a family member to stay at our home to watch our 2 dogs and snake. The zoo...in otherwords! :dog: :dog:

if you live that close, why not just have a cab pick you up...fare cant be more than 5 bucks...

I wasn't sure if all 4 of us and all the luggage would be too much for a taxi. I could look into it. I'll call some of the taxi companies and get a quote.

Since you live so close, my thought was a cab, too. I'm sure there must be some taxi company that has a van for larger parties and luggage.

I would suggest them picking you up earlier. The airport tends to be busy first thing in the morning. The flight starts boarding at 6:30 so you aren't allowing much time to get to the airport, get checked in and through security.

I would rather be sitting at the gate with a few minutes to spare then worrying I was going to miss my flight. Most flights are pretty full so if you miss yours you may be waiting quite a while to get on another flight.

Although we live further from the airport than you do, we were looking at a cost of $150 round trip for airport transportation this past fall, and we considered it. Taxis that early in the morning were not available for us, so it was only a Town Car service we could consider. It ended up that parking at an offsite airport lot was the cheapest solution (to my surprise).
I agree with Safetymom, I would plan on leaving even earlier than 5:30. That is cutting it too close, in my opinion.

Thats not that bad concidering not having to worry about your car .It would be that much to park at 1 of the lots.
As for Sis that would mean she could spend the night or her get up at 5:00 or earlier so even though she offered I would just pay the shuttle.
