Just got a couple of questions I was hoping someone could help me with.

1. I know you can ring up and book 1 year in advance but is it hard to get the date you want?

2. I know you have to stay a minimum number of nights in a Disney hotel but do you need to book that at the same time as the wedding or can you book it earlier/later? Also do you have to book the nights direct with Disney?

Thanks for your help!

I would say it probably depends on when you're planning to get married. Also, you have to remember that there's at least 4 different ceremony sites for Escape weddings with 3 different time slots in each. (I think it's 3 or 4) So, chances are you could probably get something on the day you pick.

If you're having an Escape wedding, you have to book your 4 nights before they'll hold the date for you. Good luck! :goodvibes

Hi Chilly, I spoke to Disney yesterday with the exact same query and this is what they told me:

I explained that we weren't looking until 9th December 2009. She explained that we could register the details with them 18 months out but nothing happened until 12 months out so there was no point really. They will only confirm at 12 months if the venue isn't used for conventions - we are having SBP so that's not an issue but dates at the Grand Floridian and other venues can be. It can also cause a problem with reception venues if there is a conference at Disney but we will be booking restaurants so that's not a problem for us.

I was really concerned about the room booking (not sure if you saw my separate post) as they need a reservation number to confirm the date and contract. I checked and Disney's cancellation policy is 5 working days. I couldn't work out how it worked - how can you book rooms when they haven't confirmed the date?! You can alter the reservation once it's booked so that was ok. That was a big weight off my mind! It also helped me budget as we will need the deposit and the money for the room at practically the same time.

She explained that they confirm the date with a Letter Of Agreement (contract) and the reservation number and details of the room booking need to be on the contract. They can tell you that the date is available at the 12 month mark but won't confirm by contract until they have the details of the room booking. We are going to wait until we know the date we want is available, book the room and then call them back with the reservation number.

The other option is to book the room beforehand and then change the date if you need to. The last time I looked on the Disney site they were only taking bookings up to 31st December this year so you might have a problem if you did want to book a room at more than 12 months out. I didn't ask about having to book direct with them - she didn't say we needed to but I didn't ask!

They were so helpful when I spoke to them even though it is nearly two years to our wedding date and had no problem helping me with the queries I had.

Hope that helps :thumbsup2

Thanks so much that is a real help, I'm hoping for the 30th December 2009 at Sunset Pointe, flying out on Boxing Day for 3 weeks so I don't have a problem booking 4 nights for the middle period, and we'll be eating in restaurants as well so hopefully conventions shouldn't be a problem esp with the time of year!

I booked my holiday with virgin and they put these nights against my room block. My holiday was booked in March and I started talking dates with Disney in June.

Happy Planning :)

I too booked my holiday as soon as I could with virgin holidays think it was april time last year and we could not contract till sept 07, these rooms are going towards our room block, we are having a wishes wedding so its a bit different as we have to guarentee 25 room nights
