Planning upcoming trip to FW (march 13-22) and wondering how difficult is it to transport our own strollers using bus/boat? We have 2 & 4 yr old and I say bite the bullet and rent a double for the duration of our trip. (next question, if we have park hopper passes, does the stroller rental cover more than one park per day?) Husband wants to take the wagon we use at Hersheypark (season pass holders there).

We also take a stroller and it has never been a problem. You will just need to fold it up when you get on the bus or boat. You won't be alone, our friend calls Disney the land of a million strollers. Have a good time!

As a reminder to those who have strollers and use Disney transportation,
and most of us have at one time or another,,,

please be mindful and considerate of others also riding Disney transportation and try not to beat them with your strollers getting on and off transportation.

Thank you.:)

We actually bought one last year for my 4 year old. It is good for weights up to 55 pounds. He sat up higher too. We rented two years ago and he sat really low. We couldn't even hear him when he was talking. And it cost the same. Anyhow, we had no problems anywhere with the stroller. And it was easier to get places. For example, the good rides. It was easier to push him then walk at his pace. :)

Another option is the nice umbrella strollers (black and red) sold in the stores on property. They are better than the average umbrella stroller, would be cheaper in the long run since they're about $49. They fold up nicely and are easy to get on and off the buses. You could easily check it to get home if you are flying or just put in bottom of RV if you're bring that with you. Wish i could find a picture for you; people were buying them up a couple weeks ago, we saw lots of them.

When we were there Oct 4-11, we rented a double stroller at the parks for our 6 yr old twins. We rented it for the whole week and you get a stroller ticket and you just show that at the different parks. The first park you start off at stamps the date on it and then we park hop, you just show them your stamped ticket. It was so nice not having to deal with folding a stroller when getting on and off boats or buses and there were always plenty of strollers available at all the parks.

Hope that helps!

When we were there last summer, we took our regular stroller. We never had a problem getting on or off any of the transportation and we loved having the basket to hold purses, etc. But, we only had one child in a stroller and it took both of us to handle everything.

Another option for strollers that we're trying for the first time is stroller swaps on the Budget Board here. We don't use a stroller any other time now, but DS is 4.5 and will need one at WDW. I got in on a swap and will pay $20 to use a really nice swivel wheel jogger for our week, then pass it along to the next swapper when we're done. Nice option if you don't have a stroller anymore and don't want to buy a new one, and/or don't have the space to haul one along, and/or don't want to pay the new Disney rental fees. I know there are doubles available in swaps as well.

Yea those umbrella strollers are nice, but some we see now especially the doubles are the size of a Volkswagon :lmao:

oh i agree with that statement! apparently, its like getting a volkswagon on a bus too because i see parents really struggling to fold and fit them on the crowded buses. i've seen some parents just give up, turn around and wait for another bus with less people. the doubles are hard to maneuver, and get past, while in the stores too. it seems like the LONG doubles are much easier at disney than the double-wides.
Other than getting my heels clipped, i am SO glad i don't have to worry about strollers any more!

Our first two kids are close in age (16 months apart), and we got to a point (when the big one was about 4) at Disney where we just took one easily-folded stroller, and let them take turns riding in it. That way, nobody gets too worn out, but you're not spending the whole day trying to maneuver a double-wide or a stretch-limo thru the parks and buses.

If you decide later that you really need another one, there's always some available for rent. We never needed it, but it seemed like a good back-up plan. The kids got used to sharing and walking, but then we never tried to do the parks commando-style with them. If you're going to be there from open to close, and have long walks to/from your transportation, you're going to need seating for two.

Has anyone seen any bike trailer strollers there? These go to 100 lbs weight limit and fold up to transport.

Speaking from vast stroller experience at Disney (there was a time when we had two double strollers with four children at 5 yrs and under) -
We always took our own strollers - they are easy to fold up on the bus and the boats - that being said:
two single strollers are easier than one double, unless you have more than two children needing a stroller
The bigger boats (not the canopy ones) that run from the fort are easier to maneuver strollers onto
If you know you need to fold up your stroller, take a minute, clean it out ahead of time before you get in line for the bus or boat
Side by side strollers are much harder to maneuver through people traffic than a single stroller or a front/ back stroller.
Jogging strollers and bike strollers are larger than normal and harder to manuever through traffic

We have bought and used a smaller stroller for our trips just because it was lighter and smaller such as this one - it works great, held our 60 lb child, easy to get into, out of, held all of our park 'stuff' - the handle was a bit short so you ended up pushing one handed sometimes, but was easy to maneuver, and was cheap enough that when the wheels gave out after two trips we didn't care
