Getting room at Atlantis or Comfort Suites worth it?

I'm debating whether to get a room at Atlantis or Comfor Suites for our 4 day cruise. I have a few questions:
  • Is it worth getting a room/going to Atlantis with a 5 year old and a 7 month old?
  • Is the water park geared toward littler children?
  • Can I take a stroller through the aquarium?
  • How far is Comfort Suites from Atlantis property?
  • Is the distance worth an extra few hundred to stay right on Atlantis property (given the age of my children)?
  • I've read in other threads that Comfort Suites requires a 2 two night stay, but when I just got a rate quote online, it looked like it was going to allow me to book for one night. Is this a fluke?
  • How late can we stay at Atlantis before having to be back on the ship?
  • I also read in another thread that people have let Comfort Inn know that they are coming in on the cruise ship at 10:00, and their room has been ready. If I use rentalcodes.com to book, I have no place for special requests. Should I book using that, then call to amend the reservation?

Thanks for your help,

Jennifer

The waterpark is designed with older kids in mind. The minimum height for the slides is 4 feet. That said, they do have to children's pools with the sprayers, toys, etc.

The Comfort Suites is across the street from the Atlantis. Using a stroller should not be a problem. I have heard that starting in March, the Comfort Suites is requireing a 2-night reservation. That pushes the cost above the Atlantis for 1 night. You can also try for a "Day Room" at the Atlantis. You cannot pre-book it and they are only available if they have open rooms.

You know your children, but if you ask my opinion, I would wait until they are a bit older.

Sure--if they like aquariums and/or the beach

Is the water park geared toward littler children?

Not really--most slides are 48"

Can I take a stroller through the aquarium?

Yes

How far is Comfort Suites from Atlantis property?

Technically, it is across the street--It isn't far, but it definitely is a couple blocks to walk.

Is the distance worth an extra few hundred to stay right on Atlantis property (given the age of my children)?

IMHO, Yes. Atlantis itself is HUGE and there is enough walking just inside the resort.

I've read in other threads that Comfort Suites requires a 2 two night stay, but when I just got a rate quote online, it looked like it was going to allow me to book for one night. Is this a fluke?

No info on this

How late can we stay at Atlantis before having to be back on the ship?

On our cruise, we had to be back on the ship at 5:00. This was October--more recent cruisers might have different info.

I also read in another thread that people have let Comfort Inn know that they are coming in on the cruise ship at 10:00, and their room has been ready. If I use rentalcodes.com to book, I have no place for special requests. Should I book using that, then call to amend the reservation?

Hope that helped you--you might want to do a Disney excursion--expensive, but easier with little ones. Atlantis Beach Day includes lunch, aquarium, and the beach. Otherwise I say go for the Atlantis room just to be simpler.

IMO I don't think there would be alot of things for a family of "young" and smaller children to do. The aquarim is good...but not the best...and IMO not worth the $25 fee (no charge for hotel guests) We had a great time, but our dd 6 at the time was just shy of the height requirement...they let her go down a few times but when the lifegurads switched...the new one wouldn't let her go anymore...at that point we were at a loss for what to do.

Keep in mind the height requirement. 48" and up...and even the short small slides that the wee ones can go on...alot of them end up in DEEP water. When we were there I didn't see the "kid" pool with toys and splashers...but I guess we could have somehow missed it. Other wise it's not really geared towards kids...Big kids and thrill seaking adults yes...but not little ones.

Can I take a stroller through the aquarium?

We took a stroller through...but there are alot of stairs...I'm sure there's paths and elevators someplace...but not everywhere.

How far is Comfort Suites from Atlantis property?

Across the street...but Atlantis is huge...and is a good distance to stroll just around their property

Is the distance worth an extra few hundred to stay right on Atlantis property (given the age of my children)?

That is really up to you...and how much you really think you'll be using the room. We went to our room for about 45min-1hr at the end of our day...other than that we didn't spend ANY time in the room. Also where did you get the prices...to see it would be a few hundred extra for atlantis? When we went our room at Atlantis was $150 (for a day room)

I've read in other threads that Comfort Suites requires a 2 two night stay, but when I just got a rate quote online, it looked like it was going to allow me to book for one night. Is this a fluke?

Don't know about that one...but it didn't use to be. And seems odd that they would require that seeing that it would end up being cheeper to get a room for one night at Atlantis...Maybe it's the time of year...if it's peek season then they may find they still book rooms that way.

You have to be out of your "Day room at atlantis" by 6pm...but you can stay and use the hotel and all their things...as late as you like.
We had to be back to the ship between 5-6pm

That probley depends on if the room was occupied the night before or if it was open...If someone else was in it...You'd have to wait until the house cleaners came through. I don't think they could or would promise you that your room would be ready that early...just because they would have to keep it open all night long.

I just got off the phone with the Comfort Suites, and they said that this was not true, only a one night reservation is required in order to have full access to Atlantis. They went so far as to question why they would require a 2 night stay when they would end up losing so much business...everyone would just stay at Atlantis.
