And have what may be a basic question but I'm new so please bear with me!
Once you sign the papers, are your points immediately available?
And if you already have a ressie for the future that has only a deposit on it, can you then use your points towards that?

Only if you are buying direct from Disney. If you are buying a resale you will have to wait until the deed is recorded (I believe)

You will be able to make a ressie almost immediately through Disney unless you need to bank or borrow points for the trip. To use banked or borrowed points you need to wait until closing.

hi: if you are dealing directly with disney, your guide can sometimes add a little pixie dust to make your first ressie easier. i, too, already had rooms booked when we purchased dvc. my guide was able to secure a ressie using my points. give your guide a call.
