Getting ready for the ice storm

Good luck. We're due to get a snow storm here in Massachusetts. Works already sent out the email that the office is closing at noon tomorrow. I went a head and told them I wasn't coming in. I have a 2 hour commute already and with a broken foot I'm not even going to attempt it.

More importantly do you have enough beer?


We're supposed to get the storm later tonight - it's cold so it will all be snow - a lot.

I live in the same area as ntsammy5 and we have the storm warning for tomorrow..but my work just sent out an e-mail before I left telling us to all the closed line in the morning but don't count on work closing. Call center, we never close unless the power is out. IF for some reason we do close they told all the work at homes that they will still be expected to work their full shifts. I'd be really surprised if schools closed here, it takes a lot to shut things down.

We live in eastern NE and it has been sleeting since 4 pm, then we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow tonight. I wish I was in WDW!

Where are you? We are in Creston and school let out early here at 12:30. It's good, though, because that ensures that ALL of the busses are off of the roads and everyone is safe!

We are a little SW of you and it's starting here. Kind of a freezing sleet kind of stuff.

I live in SE MN, and we have another winter storm warning out here for tonight. I've lost count of how many warnings have been out here already this month. Winter iisn't evening official yet!

I hope your ice storm isn't as bad as predicted. Keep us updated. This looks like a double whammy two storm weekend.

Maybe January will be nice.

Well, the freezing rain is here. We'll see what the night brings.

We've got blankets, flashlights, cellphones and Cheezits in the middle of the living room in case we lose power.

The sleet started about 6:30 tonight. It sounds awful, I'm hoping I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow.

I just took the puppy out, and everything is already covered in ice. I'm thinking that there is no way they will have school tomorrow. Our lights have flickered, but they didn't stay off.

Good morning everyone! We still have electricity here in Creston. 1/3 inch of ice, but I haven't heard any tree limbs breaking, so that's a good sign! School is out today, and I am looking forward to enjoying a day with the kids.

It's suppose to be 83 degrees here today. Our weather is supposed to get cold monday. The weather is crazy right now. I hope all of you with the snow and ice keep your power. Stay warm.

it looks terrible outside.. its not snowing.. they are more like ice balls... we must have an 1.5" of this stuff (I'm not even sure what it is.. not snow, not sleet, not freezing rain) already.. going to continue til at least tomorrow I think

It's sunny and beautiful outside! Not too cold, a little windy. Everything is coated in snow and ice and so sparkly. No school here, I saw Creston closed on the TV scroll as well.

DH was up early to snowblow, did our driveway and the neighbor's - he's in the hospital again and the last thing his wife needs to worry about is snow. DH didn't leave for work until after 8, trying to avoid the worst of the traffic. He normally drives an old Neon (was his grandma's) to work but today he took the big 4WD truck - it's better to be the bigger vehicle when playing car hockey on the roads.

Well, officially Iowa City got 2 1/2 inches of snow, but with an additional 1/4 inch of ice. We live outside of Solon, which got 4 inches of snow.

Most of my patients today had come in the night before, and about half the clinic cancelled.

Roads are mostly slushy now. Kids are out of school, and will be starting their Christmas break early!

We've had about 15" since 8AM - not bad, but because of the wind, I have 5' drifts in my driveway - a real problem to get rid of. Drinking a beer now is good therapy!
