If we use a TS at a QS restaurant is there any difference in what we can get?

On a TS do you get app AND Dessert? I'm just trying to make sure DXLD is a good value for us. We are adults only and enjoy the dining aspect of Disney.

On the Deluxe Dining Plan there are no counter service or table service meals---there are just meals---3 per day and 2 snacks per day. You can use them as table or counter as you choose. The Counter service meals do not receive appetizers---only dessert. The table service meals on the deluxe plan do get an appetizer and dessert.

And if you choose breakfast, that comes with neither appetizer nor dessert (at both TS and CS).

I don't ever think it's a good idea to substitute a TS for a QS meal, but that's just me. The two values aren't equal. If you eat at the signature restaurants for dinner, then you will have one TS meal for breakfast or lunch. If you want a QS meal consider getting the regular dining plan. When I look at the deluxe DP, I think of each TS meal as costing me about $25 and the snacks $4 each. Unless my meals come to more than that, then I haven't saved money.

Well the problem is the DP isn't enough and the DXDP that we have is a few too many credits. We got the DXDP because we are doing several 2 credit meals/dinner shows and we want to try a few signature restaurants. We couldn't do that with the regular dining plan. I'm not a breakfast eater but SO is. I just felt we'd have a couple extra we could maybe get CS or snacks to take back.

On a credit by credit basis, you are absolutely correct.

However, what really matters is the overall compared to how you are designing your trip. So, if you undershoot a few credits, while overshooting most of the rest, you'll come out ahead. Maybe not by as much as you could have, but if you're making yourself sick trying to get max value out of the plan, then you're doing it wrong ;).

For 2012, so long as you're only spending a few credits at QS while on Dx, you'll be fine. 2013 is a whole different beast and I haven't run the numbers there, but I'm thinking that it's going to be much, much tighter and that my typical 2-3 CS and 2-3 unused credits at the end of 9 nights isn't going to fly :p.

We prefer DDXDP - DH and I Here is my planning style and some of our fav spot

1.) Character breakfast are a must for us - Also we love Kona for breakfast, If you opt to eat at your resort, you get choice of entree and juice, Then you will have your mug for coffee or soda. You can get bottled water instead of juice and take that into the parks.

2.) Lunch we like the Plaza at MK great sandwiches and even better shakes. DHS - Sci Fi - another choice for burgers, and sandwiches another good shake can be gotten here, Rainforest at AK, I think that they take the DDXDP not completely sure would check, DH and I will pay OOP for there appetizers, we split them and do not get a entree if we oop. Just a suggestion it a nice getaway from the park when its hot, nice and cool and dark.

3.) Dinner - We enjoy 2 table service meals, Cali grill, Flying Fish, Cindy's Royal table are on the top for us.

If we are going to 2ts meal in the evening, we will have a large breakfast and grab a snack if needed.

I bring bottled water, coke and adult beverages, For wine make sure to have a plastic container for pool side, and snacks for the room, and to take to the pool. For instance rolled meat and cheese, crackers & dips, chips, breakfast bars. We like to save our snack credit for the really good stuff, bakery items and goffy's candy shop we always take some home.

Thanks for all the info.

The way I look at it is pretty simple. We are getting FD with our res., we are upgrading to deluxe for 70.00 (2 People) which give us 2 extra TS per day, 2 upgrades to TS from CS, 3 extra Appetizers and 2 extra snacks.
