DH and I have been to WDW numerous times. My parents and brothers are coming with us this time and I would love to try to get my bros or dad in the MGM backlot tour special effects water show at the beginning of the tour. What would be the best strategy to try to do this? Thanks!!

This past fall I was able to be in the tank. I went with a co-worker who has never seen this attraction before, so I was a bit upset when they already picked the people to be part of the show before we got up the ramp..... but to my suprise I guess 2 people backed out when they heard what they had to do so they asked if there were two people who would like to volenteer for the attraction and my hand shot stright up, draging my co-worker along with me, while she had no idea what we were about to do.

Thankfuly the two of us were deckhands and did not get as wet as the engine room guy... but still pretty wet ;)

Sad part was because it was just the two of us there... no photos or anything :( but it was still fun and awesome memmories :)

So in the end.... try to get there right after a show starts so you can be up front... and it never hurts to ask the CMs at the attraction if you can do it... although u might have to wait a show or two if they have already picked their victims ;)

My DH was picked for this last summer. We just happened to be at the beginning of the line for the next show to start. He really enjoyed it and it was fun to watch him get soaking wet and have to act--totally not him. Good luck!

About 9 years ago my then BF and I were picked to be in the show. It was done a little differently back then but we did wear the raingear and got dumped with water... but those suits are pretty waterproof, we weren't very wet at all when we were done. My sister was with us so she took pictures of us....

LoL, we must have stood out that day because we were also picked to be in the Sound show (before Drew Carry's Sounds Dangerous) where you made the sound effects for the movie.

Something tells me where was something else too, will post if I think about it. I do remember my sister starting to get a little annoyed by the end of the day because we kept leaving her by herself while we did the cool stuff.

Last summer, my sister and I were picked to be in the show as the two deckhands. It was a lot of fun!

As we were walking in, we were handed one of those cards to measure the wait time of the ride. Then this older gentleman cast member came over to us and asked if it was just the two of us. We said yes and he asked if we would like to be in the show. We said sure and walked backstage with him, where a couple was already waiting. We got dressed, prepped, and got to be in the show! It was a lot of fun. We didn't have anyone else with us, so we couldn't see the video, and had no tape of it, but we enjoyed it anyway.

We were just lucky. You might be able to ask though!

DM and I were deckhands this past August. We were toward the front of the line and a CM came out and asked for two people to volunteer to be in the show.....after about 30 seconds on silence I grabbed DM's arm and and raised my arm and started dragging her to the front, she was very confused for a few seconds :rotfl2:

Best bet is to get there early and ask a CM, as someone said you may just need to wait for the next show. It was lots of fun, I just wish I had had someone to take pictures

Yep just be in the front section waiting and you will probably see
CM come out looking for a volunteer. I was asked to do it and tried
very hard to get out of it, but everyone else in line kept saying "go" ,
so I caved in and did it.

I did it in 2004 and my kids were thrilled. I stayed quite dry in the wetsuit
thank goodness. I hope you get the chance !!
