Getting over my vanity at Disneyland....

I will honestly admit that I am a metrosexual. That all comes crashing down when I visit DL. With the exception of the colder months in the year, my suitcase consists of shorts and t-shirts. I don't even care if they match and the trio of hats makes it quite easy to hide the bedhead. And forget about shaving, the razor stays home. Don't worry, I still shower, put on deodorant, brush my teeth and take showers daily - and I still feel sexy ;-)

I work with five guys..I'm the only girl and I tell them they're lucky if I wear deodorant (joking!) because I am such a sloppy dresser and the guys all look more pulled together than I do.

Guilty as charged too!:rotfl:

I always like to dress up since I love fashion and I work in such a fashion based industry. Yes even at DL! I know I know! But I have found a bunch of solutions of looking cute and being totally comfortable= JUST HAVE FUN!

But honestly, I'd be lying to you if I didn't say that I take extra time to pack for our trips just to make sure I have the outfits I need with ability to change should the weather or activity call for it. It's really sad!

I agree with other posters, if you get a cute top, it doesnt matter what bottoms since most pics are waist up anyway! heehee:thumbsup2

Also, I am an accessory girl, so either I have a great hat on, I ALWAYS have some styling sunglasses (not too nicole richie as I have a round face, but I have a couple pairs that look great on me), and usually some cute sneakers (diesel and sketchers makes great sneaker/urban shoe hybrids). Make-up usually consists of tinted moisturizer with SPG, some blush.bronzer and some gloss or lip stain. The glasses hide the rest!

So don't feel bad if sometimes you feel like you're take way too long for Disneypark standards, i think all of us are quilty one way or another!

ps. don't ask me why I just wrote a novel on what my regiment is when i get ready for the parks! haha:rotfl: I tend to ramble!

I hope you enjoy your up coming trip. We just got back a month ago and had a blast. As for the whole clothes thing. I just gave up and tried to be the most comfortable. I mean if your going to be walking 10-12 hours a day you need comfort. And for hair well 1 trip down splash mountain or grizzley river run you've got a horror show on hand (or would that be head lol) So my advice is if your not doing any water rides then go ahead do the hair but if your gonna get wet just put it up and have fun.

I go in to get my hair straighten before I go to Disneyland. I to have very curly hair and hate it. So I get highlight put in my hair and get new cloths before I go to Disneyland. I also wear crock with anything. Big bright pinks ones.

I can understand that. I work in the fashion industry so I feel ick if I feel daggy, especialy when I knew how many photos I'd be in.

Mostly wore dark jeans and cute tank tops with a nice jumper/jacket. It was really cold when we went so wore boots on most days (ankle and knee highs) pulled my hair into a french twist. Did minimal make up everyday (I feel naked without it, even on a trip!) and usual jewellery (watch, bracelet and necklace)

You have all helped me out so much! Someone asked when we were going to be at Disney. We are going September 23-27. I HAD to wait until Nemo was open and I won't go in the summer.

I think my vanity has spread down to my girls because I HATE having them dress up in their princess dresses and then have on dirty running shoes. It really irks me! I have been reading a lot about these "croc" things and I have some questions. Do you, or do you not wear socks with them? The red disney ones would actually match and look cute with their minnie dresses. Anything is better then sneakers I guess. I don't know Disney weather at the end of September, but might it get too cold to wear these things at night?

I am still upset about my hair there. I really want to know how people actually live there! Everyday would be a battle for me and I think I would die. We went to San Antonio once and I have to say that was much worse. As soon as we stepped off the plane I thought I was having an asthma attack. I could hardly breathe in that air. My hair curled everywhere and I am thinking that everyone is crazy for living there. This is why we don't go to WDW. It's got to be 10 times worse than California.

I am going to look into these croc things. I might just wear shorts instead of capri's so my nike's won't look to bad. I am really short (5'2) and I need lots of space between my bottoms and my shoes to look normal! :) All you short gals know what I am talking about. We also need height in our shoes. All my shoes have chunky heels and I know those are all no-no's in Disneyland.

I know I can get through this! Thanks guys!

One thing I've done in the past to help with that issue is to buy keds/keds-type shoes right before the trip (or for Halloween, which is more frequent, DD has been a Princess for all but two Halloweens now). DD and I take fabric markers/paints and decorate them a little bit to match the princess du jour. If I were a little more crafty, I've seen adorable ones that have lace and other pretties attached. Frankly, for me, the fabric paint is a stretch! :joker: That way she has pretty shoes, but ones she can walk in without a lot of pain. We did this last time we were at DL and DD wore her Sleeping Beauty dress.

You know, I grew up in So.Cal. and never have thought of it as being humid at all! I still don't generally think of it that way. Though, I live in MN now, which is very humid and compared to other places we've vacationed (San Antonio, just like you! and Orlando, FL and Washington DC), Cali. is dry! When I was in DC, I used a gel/syrum that worked really well to get rid of frizzies and keep hair sleek when I wore my hair down. It was Aussie (you know, the brand with the kangaroo on it). We had a couple of co-workers who had curly curly hair and I recommended it, and all of a sudden the entire office was using it! I used about a dime, curlier haired people used about a quarter. It enhanced their curl and kept it "kept" looking. Might be of use. Frankly though, often we had our hair up in knots or sweeps or ponies just due to the heat.

Utahbelle - you crack me up! :lmao:
I am a short gal, too and totally understand the shoe situation LOL! In winter all my shoes have stacked heels and my boots are pointy stilletos. In the summer all of my sandals have some type of platform heel -- they even make flip flops with a wedge heel now. I went thru the same issues went we went to DL! I managed to find cute, comfy shoes.
I grew up in FL and so I know about the humidity thing. It ruins makeup and hair.
At the Body Shop they do sell these blotting papers that you can blot your face with so your makeup doesn't look all "shiny". When we were at DL last February, my hair and makeup didn't do too bad. Maybe it was the time of year! As far as hair -- the "messy pony" and "messy bun" are still "in" (at least I think so!), so those 'dos are totally acceptable :)
have fun!
