Getting over Jetlag... a bit worried!

Hello everyone,

So my dbf and I have been living in Australia for the past year while I complete my graduate diploma. On our way home from Aus, we plan on taking two quick stop overs. First stop being Fiji for 3 nights (which is a couple hours time difference from Australia) and the second being LA for 4 nights.

I'm worried about being severley jetlagged in LA because I was pretty badly jetlagged when we moved to Australia from Toronto Canada but we were able to slowly recover from that over a weeks time.

Since we have such little time in LA, whats the best way to get over Jetlag quickly? We arrive in LA at about 1:30pm, plan on relaxing that first afternoon and maybe going to DTD and then planning on touring Hollywood the next day followed by two days at the Disney Parks.

Any tips would be welcome!

TIA

Depending on what time of year you go, Disneyland can be a place where you can enjoy it at the hours you want. For example, many days of the year it is open till midnight, so if you need to sleep in for your mornings, there are still plenty of hours left in the day to enjoy.

When are you planning on visiting?

We are planning on going Mid July on a week day... I believe it'll be on a Wednesday/Thursday

I'm assuming you're on a red eye out of Fiji? If so I'd recommend trying to sleep a few hours on the flight. When you get to LA you'll probably still feel tired but resist the urge to nap during the day. It will be much harder to fall asleep at night if you do this. Try to get out and spend as much time outdoors as you can. The sunlight will help reset your internal clock, even if you're just hanging out by the pool. Try to go to bed at a fairly normal time or slightly early. Sleep in a little if you have to but try not to nap during the day. I know this is good for park breaks but when you are jetlagged it will leave your body confused about when you are supposed to sleep. In my experience I'm able to feel pretty normal by the second night if I do these things. :goodvibes

Best thing we did was not succumb to our tiredness when we arrived at the hotel in DL (around lunchtime) we would have loved a nap, but instead stayed awake, went to DL for the afternoon, and had dinner at the normal time. We did end up fast asleep by 7.30pm (we didn't sleep at all on the flight from Sydney), but after a solid 12 hours we were awake and ready to go the next day. We were fine from then on. Try and adjust your body as soon as possible to the new time by having meals and sleeping at the normal time in your new destination.
