The best thing about getting older is ... people have finally stopped asking us when we're going to have kids. :teeth:

The worst thing about getting older is ... starting to seriously worry about having enough money to live on after we are retired. :worried:

Your turn.

I can only list one best thing? :rotfl:I guess it would be as I get older, I don't give a rip what people that don't matter think about me. :cool2:

The worst thing...hmmm, I'll have to think about that one. It would have to be as we age, so do our parents and all the issues that come with aging parents.

I'm 28 and have a 2-year-old. People ask us all the time when we are going to have another. It gets a bit awkward because I have certain medical complications that make it highly unlikely that I will get pregnant and if I do, highly unlikely to carry to term. I hate being asked when we will have another because we would love to have another - just don't know if it is going to be possible and it is always awkward trying to find an appropriate answer to that question.

In any case, I wouldn't consider myself too terribly old, but I have discovered great things about the aging process I'm going to give my top 3 things about getting older:
1. I was always the baby of the family (including siblings, cousins, etc. and on both sides of my family). Now, however, I am an adult and am actually able to have a say in family discussions. Also, I get to have a say in whether or not I attend obnoxious cousin's birthdays and other get togethers.

2. As SaraJayne said, it's nice not to have to worry about what other people think anymore. Personally, I feel that I have an amazing life with a husband who treats me better than royalty, a beautiful daughter, and am very close with my immediate family and my in-laws. If someone doesn't like the way I live my life, I have discovered I really don't give a flying pancake. Those people don't matter. And the people who do matter know that I am enjoying my life and doing the best I can with what I have.

3. I get to wake up on a random Saturday morning, roll over and tell my husband that I would like to drive an hour and a half to go to the zoo, and we can actually do it. Tell me if that was ever a possibility when you were a kid!

Worst thing about getting older is easily watching my daughter get older. I actually miss sitting on the couch, watching The Golden Girls on DVD, and nursing her.

The worse is you realized some not so great choice made when you were younger effected your whole life

The Best you become so mch more comfortable in your own skin, and the crowd or mean spirited people that criticize at every turn you make, you just dont even give a second thought anymore.

i wish I was like I am now at 16

I'm 39 and DH is 45. This year was the first family get-togethers where nobody asked. We were elated! :woohoo:

I can completely understand that elation! We're 30, and I'm so tired of the baby question. It's intrusive, but it also just doesn't make sense because it really can't be answered. "WHEN?" Well, I'm not psychic, and generally these things aren't penciled into a schedule book all neatly, so what sort of answer can I give? I'm considering responding to the next person who asks "Why, Tuesday, April 22nd, 2015, at approximately 10am, thank you for inquiring!" :rolleyes2

Yea I am 40 and they are still asking me.

However, I don't usually admit being that old in the real world. :duck:

We were just talking about this yesterday! Other than a few aches and pains, DH & I are enjoying our golden yrs. (75/65) :goodvibes. We have modest retirement, descent health, enjoy living life to the fullest, doing what we want, when we want ;). We count our blessings we don't have the responsibilities we had while raising our family ~ it's nice to sit back now and realize 'you reap what you sow'. Praise God our kids are all married with own homes, families, and successful careers. Plus, being blessed with the pitter patter of lots of sweet grands is a wonderful bonus and helps keep our spirit young:lovestruc. It's nice to be ourselves and not sweat the small stuff! :goodvibes

The best thing about getting older - I'm not dead.

The worst thing about getting older - someone asked me if I was buying clothes for my grandkids. I will be 36 next week. I know I'm not the greatest looking woman in the world but I don't think I look like a grandma.

I agree about the retirement thing. I am about 25 years from retirement and it's all I worry about. I already done the math and I already lost the game - no way I can save anywhere close to what I am suppose to. On top of that, I may be losing the remenants of my job (already been reduced) PLUS my entire profession is going bye-bye due to advancing technology. Getting older is not looking so good. :sad2:

On a positive note, I have many many more friends as a middle aged adult. When I was younger, everything was a competition. Nowadays the people I hang out with don't care who has the biggest SUV, biggest mcmansion, etc. Being more mature has some advantages, fortunately. :)

The best thing about getting older... KNOWLEDGE!

Oh, and no one expects me to be "cool", and wear the latest fashions! Of course, I'm still cool, :cool2: but when people check out my outfit, they don't think, "Oh, her clothes are out of style," instead, they just think, "Oh, she's old," and I'm excused. :lmao:

The worst thing about getting older... the loss of loved ones, and the knowledge that we may never have all the answers.

The worst part, I'm older than my supervisors parents, and have been doing my job longer than my supervisor has been alive.

The best part, all those "new" ideas they come up with have all been done 2 or 3 times before, so I know how they work, and what won't work.

The worst thing about getting older is just that...getting older. I wish I could have stayed 27 forever(sounds like Tuck Everlasting).

The best thing about getting older is.....I guess they do not card me when I buy wine anymore....but then again that is also one of the worst things because then they think I lOOK 40 which is the cut off age at most stores for carding.

Ouch. Sorry that person was an idiot.

Now that I have reached my 40s  :

The best thing is having money and being financially comfortable. I love not having to budget for every little thing anymore and to be able to pretty much be able to do what I want.

The worst thing is knowing that health problems/illness/death are just around the corner. It all goes downhill from here. :sad2:
