Have you used that? How well does it work? I'm a terrible parallel parker and that technology is VERY enticing.

We have a Ford Expedition and a Ford Fusion Hybrid. I prefer driving the Expedition, but I do drive the Fusion more because of the gas mileage. Except for backing up, I can see out of the Expedition so much better. The Fusion does have a back up camera, which is really nice. Otherwise I couldn't see out of it, either, because of the way the back window is angled.

Unlike our previous minivan the real world results are close to the mfg estimate. The difference has been frankly incredible. If that makes me PC, ok, go PC.

IMHO image consciousness is why many people don't consider the Prius V. I used to work in car sales. People like cars that fit their image, for better or worse. It's why so many people drive suv's when they live in a city that doesn't get snow, never go off roading, never tow anything, never fill it with anything, etc. I sold a lot of suv's to people like that. I understand that's not everybody.

Been driving in snow all my life. No problems with the Prius in winter. Use snow tires. If people can't store tires that could be a deal breaker. Car has great torque and drives well enough.

Somebody mentioned height; I'm over 6'3" and have no problem getting at the car seat. Doors top edges are actually nice and high. Side note the inside, like the drivers area is the roomiest of any new car we looked at except for some of the minivans. I was stunned at how tight the interior was in some of the suv's.

We just bought a Hyundai Sonata in September, after a whole lot of research and agonizing. We didn't want a CVT, plus the height on the passenger's seat is manually adjustable on all models, which made it a lot more comfortable for me.

Just got rid of my Honda Odyssey mini van last week that is 10 years old and had 165,000 miles and got a Nissan Murano (used 2014 from Enterprise Car Sales). I was first considering the smaller SUVs, but wanted one in the family that would be a little bigger and more comfortable for trips. DH drives a Mazda 3 sedan, compact car and DS 19 and going to Community College drives a Ford Focus, compact car. I just fell in love with the car and thought it was a pretty good deal too. Gas mileage though it won't be that much different than the minivan. But it sure feels a lot more sporty.

I have a 2013 Acura RDX-its an upscale CRV-with fantastic warrenties. Comfy to drive and gets great mileage-about 30 on flat highway driving-26ish in the Colorado Rockies. AWD. 42K and 0 dollars spent on maintenance. The only thing I don't like about it is that I can not put more than one of my dogs in it at a time and only uncrated like for a quick run to the vets-have to break out the Tahoe to go to dog shows.

Question on RDX. I've always liked them, but there is some debate out there as to whether it requires premium gas. Do you use regular or premium? And if regular, do you notice any performance hit?

Wow, I will let my overly conservative, so NOT PC husband know he has been driving the wrong car in Colorado snow with no special tires for 7 years.

No, it's not a SUV, but that was a lot of assumptions in that response, and it was just a suggestion like others in this thread.

We live in the NE and like to buy AWD too. I have a 2010 Ford Flex - which rides like a dream, handles well in the snow. But, is not good on gas and is a bit of a beast to park. It is fine for me because we don't drive in the city but don't try to fit it in a small place. We also have a 2010 Subaru Impreza which is easy to park and better on gas, and great in the snow. But, the road noise is a bit loud and I personally don't like sitting that low to the ground. We decided to let our girls take it to college this year and bought a new Jeep Cherokee (latitude) it is smaller than the grand cherokee and not as expensive. It is so smooth riding and I enjoy driving it. Havent used it in the winter yet - just got it a few months ago, but I have no doubt that it will be great. It too has all the bells and whistles. I test drove the Toyota Highlander and the Subaru outback station wagon before buying the jeep. I preferred how the Jeep drove better than the other two.

We're a Toyota family. I have an 05 Camry with 197K on it, DS has an 07 Camry with 70K and we just bought an 11 Camry hybrid for DW with 50K. The 05 and 07 get about 28 mpg combined city/highway, and the hybrid gets about 37.

We love toyota. We had an 07 rav 4 and 08 corolla. Now have 12 sienna and 12 Camry. I really liked my rav 4 just wanted more room.

Anyways. OP, I test drove the 2014 models of the Honda CR-V EX-L and the Nissan Rogue SL. Both are the top trims for each model, which includes leather. The CR-V drove better but the interior trim of the Rogue was much nicer. The CR-V is still lacking in some areas (there's still no remote-start and the entertainment screens were meh). I think the 2015 model might have a CVT engine now.

As nice as the interior of the Rogue was, I read a lot of horror stories regarding problems with the CVT transmissions for the Nissans. I ultimately ended up with the Accord EX-L but the C-RV was a close second! Though the Accord is a sedan, it seemed more spacious than the CR-V.

It snows here, and my DH is on his second Prius. He likes them a lot (though this second needed some expensive repairs this year). Once in three years we get stuck in the alley outside of our garage because the city never cleans the alley, and have to dig our vehicles out. But then, we are from Siberia, so we don't get all flustered over a foot of snow.
