Hello All. Excited that we are booked at OKW for the February Moonlight Magic date at AK. Was wondering how hard it is to get the reservation tickets on the day they are released. We actually will be getting off the Magic on the Morning of November 20th when it opens to DVC reservations. Will I be able to do this while on my phone? I know we will be in Miami before the time slot of 9am opens so I am wondering if I can hop on the website while still on the ship. We will be paying for the internet but now Im thinking I should just do LTE instead because I am sure we will be moving off the ship around 8-9 looking for our transfer to Ft. Lauderdale. ANY CHANCE I can wait till I get to the airport around 9:30 to hop on then and still get tickets? Are they usually gone right away? UGH! Thanks for any info or advice!

So are you saying that you cannot get tickets to MM unless you try the first morning in the very first hour? Seriuosly?

Yes. Seriously.

You can try the other registration date, if there is one. This year, there were two for on site and one for off site. But the queue system meant if you were not queued at open, you were not getting tickets. Exception was the water park MM. But AK definitely sold out in half an hour.

What’s the point of the offsite date if you can’t get passed the first hour of the on-site date? Do they hold tickets for offsite while preventing people with onsite reservations? Why is the two or three weeks between the dates? So confused. I did Epcot last year and had no problem getting my tickets but I did try the first morning.

Also could someone please tell me if this is accessed through an email we get if we are booked at a DVC resort during the event.

We are booked on points so do I wait for an email and there is a link to put me in the que (that’s sort of what I remember) and then I just add in my member number?
Is there any place I can find a post or link on the process? Sorry but I’ll be walking off the ship at the time of opening for the tickets.
Can I use a mobile device?
Can my husband get in the que on his phone too since we are both members??

Thank you for any help. I have used the search function but can’t find anything on the process.

They hold a limited number of tickets back, yes. They don't release all tickets for the other registration dates.

The link can be accessed via the DVC site when booking starts, traditionally.

You can book on mobile.

Yes, so long as he is listed on the qualifying reservation. Only one of you can book tickets, though, as the ticket limit is per membership (deed).

Thank you aurora!! I appreciate your help!! All I can do is try but it helps to be prepared.

OP, I’m guessing you have never tried to get tickets to MM before.

You will be placed into a virtual queue. Your number may very well be in the thousands even if you log in precisely when registration opens. Many people have tried opening multiple browsers and phone sessions at the same time to try to get in.

Basically one hot mess with many angry disappointed people. You will find lots of threads from past MM registration debacles.

Give it a shot by all means. But do it precisely at 9. And prepared to hold knowing you may not get in anyway.

And, yes, people have complained bitterly to DVC and nothing has changed. It is a marketing tool for them. Whether you or anyone else gets into the actual event is not their concern. You bought your points direct already so they are happy.

Thank you Debbie. I have actually gotten tickets to MM last year but I must have been lucky because I don’t remember any issues at all. I’m nervous of course now and to complicate matters we will be getting off the ship at that time. We have three phones we can use to get in the queue. But obviously they won’t be on WiFi so I’m nervous we will have the connection drop. I can’t remember what I had to do once my number came up? Put in our DVC reservation or member number? I want to have everything in case I actually get in. Does it help to go to the website prior to 9 am? It is 9 am right?

Just your member number. Then it will pull up your reservation with the correct number of people listed on it.

We did MM in MK and AK last year. MK has a lot more availability so you have better odds. When we tried for AK I was on my desktop and phone at the same time right at 9. One put me in queue at 7000 something, the other put me in at 2! Scary. Definitely be on exactly at 9. There seems to be no benefit to clicking through before 9 either. They randomize everyone on before 9 a few seconds after 9.

Good Luck!

I was excited that I was going to be at AKL during the January MM but finding out that it opens at 9 took all my excitement away. I’m at work at 9 and can’t be on my cell phone or any other device. Oh, well. Maybe when I retire. .

Why is it harder to get AK than MK? I would much rather go to one at MK. Are there actually less AK tickets?
OP, we did AK last year and honestly... it was fun but not anything to write home about. AK is also a bit creepy at night, very dark.

There definitely wasn’t a lot open at all.

Yeah. Obviously, you can fit the entire population of Wyoming into Epcot at any given time, and supplement it with a good portion of Idaho while you're at it. But they don't for MM because when you consider the headliners and their throughput, people would just be angry if they gave out that many tickets.

So there does seem to be some figuring of what will be open, throughput and line length. Even with that, headliners end up with lines at events at Epcot and AK, because there just aren't many to disperse crowd. MK has the most MM tickets available, because it's easier to disperse lines.

Yes. Fewer tickets. Fewer attractions and headliners.
Hmmm. Now I’m second thinking this. I haven’t been to AK in years. We did MK for Christmas party and then the Epcot MM last May. Both were fun but I’ve never even seen the avatar rides. Are they open during MM? Do they still give free dinner vouchers? I figure it’s something to do for free if we can get in.

They are open, but they're still pretty decent queues. COmes down to that "how many headliners" question.

Meal vouchers were given this year. Could change next year, dunno if they mentioned them in the announcement.

Yes, they had the food vouchers but only 2 or 3 venues were open. We ate at the food bowl place for the first time ever, and I hate to say it, but it was simply gross. Everyone in our group regretted the choice. It was also packed. Took a long time to get food. Flame tree bbq ran out of food so we couldn’t go there. Everest was down for half the night which I think prompted a lot of people to leave. The lines at flight of passage were still at an hour, so we didn’t touch it. We mainly just walked around. I just remember how dark it was. Not a party feel. Nothing like the Christmas or Halloween parties at MK. I would go if you can get tickets but I wouldn’t fret about getting them. I would love to try the MK one though. Hollywood studies too.

Yes Pandora is open during MM. The lines for the rides, particularly FOP, have gone down quite a bit. At the MM AK in 2017, the line at FOP was 3.5 hours at park close, so they did not get thru the "regular" park guests well into the MM hours, almost defeated the purpose. I imagine it wont be as bad
