We'll be in Disney in February, and I ordered a gift basket for DS from Disney Florist that includes Mickey Ears. Where can I get it engraved? I know there is a place in MK, but I didn't know if you had to buy ears from them or can I just bring in the ones I purchased.

He had received engraved mickey ears from my MIL a couple of years ago, but we lost them in the hurricane. :sad1: Now, he'll be surprised with brand new ones for his first Disney trip. :flower:

You can get them embroidered at The Chappeau in MK or Celebrity 5 & 10 in MGM for $2. You can get them embroidered with the fancier embroidery at Days Of Christmas at DTD for $7. You must have a receipt when you take them in, so take along your card you receive from The Disney Florist.

We got ours embroidered for free at some little hat shop on Main Street. I think it was in the first little culdesac on the right and it was connected to a bigger gift shop that opens up to Main Street. My neighbor had told me that wast he only place there that will do it for free, even if you buy them somewhere's else. We bought ours at the Contemporary and had them done at that shop.

They used to do them for free. Not anymore. The cheapest you can get it done is $2 per hat.

Did they change it recently? We got ours done for free the first week of Oct. Maybe they were just nice...don't know. Just wondering b/c I was just telling a friend where the "free" place was. $2 isn't bad though, I would have paid if they had asked for it.

I believe it went to effect on December 1st.

Nope. They charged us in October for it. We were there Oct. 18-25.

Thanks! I couldn't remember when it started. I just know that it changed.

How long does it take to have the ears embroidered?

It only takes a minute or two. It is really quick.

We got ours embroidered at the tent in Toon Town where you meet the characters. They charged us $2, but we didn't need to show them our receipt for the hats. We had bought the hats the previous day and they had no problem. Or at least they didn't ask.

Hi Peggy..........

Lovely pic of your DD!!! How's she doing??

Anyway, my question.......... I got DS a Mickey Sorcerer hat that lights up, I ordered it for his welcome basket............. anyway, I don't have a receipt, so, will I not be able to get his name put on it without a receipt??

Thanks

****** Ryan, I didn't see your post!!!!! I guess I can get it done............ Thank You!!!!

Hi! Thanks! DD is doing great!

You should be able to get it embroidered without the receipt. Just tell them where you got it. I always try to take my receipts with me if I buy hats in advance. I have seen CMs question people about where they got the hat. Since the sell them at stores all over the place, including the places that do the embroidery, they really don't know whether people have bought them prior or just picked them up. You should be fine.

We got ears embroderied last week at the Chappeau in MK. It only took a minute or two and we were on our way!! This was our first time back at WDW and one thing I noticed was gone was the Mad Hatter's Hat Shop. What happened ? We loved that place. That where we always got our ears.

sorry for the off topic, but I read the subject line and thought "I don't think Mickey would appreciate someone engraving his ears..."

Have a good time, wish I was going :(

My understanding is they will only engrave on something if they actually sell it, anywhere at disney world, so if it is ruined it could be replaced. I wished I had known it was only $2 to get ears engraved, I wanted to get them for my son but we were at DTD and I was reading prices and the whole hat was going to cost me $20! Of course, I was going off the price the lady told me for his name!

jessica---that's right...disney will only engrave items that they currently sell. I wanted to purchase one of the gold Mickey ears and have it engraved at the Days of Xmas at DD on our departure day Dec 10. They had a few days waiting list so I asked if I could it bring it back on a future visit and they said no. They don't want to risk that the item might be ruined and irreplaceble.
