We are thinking of getting married at WDW. It is our second marriage and between us we have 5 adult children. Would we be able to get married on the Grand 1? Our friend is a JP, and we would love to have him perform the ceremony on the boat. There would be 14 adults in all (including bride, groom, JP). Any information, pricing, ideas would be appreciated!

I don't think DFTW offers the Grand 1 Yacht as a wedding venue, but perhaps someone else may have other ideas? If they do you would meet the numbers for an Escape package which would start at $4750.00 for 2012 (depending on venue choice).

It sounds like a great idea, but not sure if it's possible! :D

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe it is a wedding venue currently.

And, to have any wedding on Disney property (without running the risk of being asked to leave) you must book through Disney, the Swan and Dolphin, or Shades of Green.

Good luck!

Thanks, everyone... we are still in the very early stages of planning and not sure what we want to do. From what I've looked at quickly, it seems that Disney Weddings offer way more than we want. I would love to have a very simple ceremony, followed by a private venue (like the Grand 1) just for us and our kids and their SO's. I don't need all the other "bells and whistles" that seem to be included in all the packages. I'll have to look into it further... All ideas and suggestions welcome!

What about a ceremony on the swan and dolphin and then use the grand one as your reception venue? There may be restrictions on wearing your dress on the grand Yacht in that case, however.

I believe you can wear your wedding dress on the Grand 1- but I do hear different things x

The only place you cannot wear a wedding gown on property is inside the parks. They stop you at the turnstiles. Since you skip the turnstiles when you're on an IllumiNations cruise, there's no problem with wearing your gown on the cruise.

We had a vow renewal at the Swan in December followed by a private reception in the West Courtyard. We had afternoon head which ran about $35 per person. We were a party of nine. It was really beautiful and ran about $2000 all in. I'm considering the Grand 1 for a birthday party. If you want to check out our VR go to www.justmarry.com and click on the Blog section. There is an entry about Andrea and Franco's Up inspired VR. That's us.
