Hi guys!
So I know it's about time to start applying for the spring semester of the College program. People start applying in August correct? But what I wanted to ask for your guys advice on how to pass the web interview. I applied in January for the fall semester and didn't pass the web interview. I was crushed.:sad1: I was completely honest and really feel like I belong in this program, so i didn't understand why i didn't pass. So what is Disney looking for? Is their a formula to the web interview that I need to follow in order to pass it and get to the phone interview? Getting into this program is really important to me, i hope to someday have a career with Disney so I know that this would be a great opportunity. If i don't pass the web interview for the Florida program, I plan on also trying the web interview for the California program.

Number one thing to remember is to BE HONEST. Read each question carefully and make sure you're answering honestly. They ask the same question in different ways on different questions to make sure your answers are consistent with each other. If you get lazy and click random answers or something, it doesn't come out very good. Also, obviously they are looking for people who are motivated, flexible, happy, willing to learn, etc. I hope that helps. I know a lot of great people who have failed the web interview who I really think would do a great job. I honestly don't know what they do wrong, but the only thing I can assume is that they accidentally answered too many different answers on similar questions.

Good luck! I hope that helps some. Make sure you apply early, too, although I feel like that goes without saying. :)

agree

Okay! Thanks! Yeah idk what I did, but maybe that is it. I will be more careful next time around. I also heard from people that Disney likes too see people who answer more towards the extreme side of things? I'm pretty sure I answered more on the neutral side of things. Do you think that could be part of it?

i dont have any personal knowledge or experience but i hear from alot of people you should use strongly agree and strongly disagree as much as possible. and try to avoid neutral. but like i said i have never applied, just what i notice alot of people saying

Think of it more as a personality/IQ test. The idea is to see if you're either the right kind of person for them, or if you're smart enough to pick the right answers.

The best advice is to always answer to the extreme, it's not an actual person going over the answers the computer just tallies your answers and gives you a score based on your answers. And the answers on the ends are worth more.

Just think of the idea candidate Disney wants and put in those answers. "Honesty" in those sorts of "interviews" isn't really expected. If you google employment personality tests you'll get all sorts of websites with tips on how to pass them.

Okay! Got it! Thanks for the advise, i'm going to research a little on these personality tests! And next time around i will stay away from the neutrals :) and be consistent:thumbsup2 Also do any of you know about what time of the month the application for Spring will go up? It is in august correct?

the website says september. but in the past they've came out in august i think.

Here's the entry I wrote on my DCP Tumblr. :)

"The last time I left off, we just filled out our DCP application. Next, we take the WBI. The WBI is the Web-Based Interview. For some people, the WBI is incredibly stressful because it determines whether you will get a phone interview. It’s not hard, but it IS important. During this interview, they seem to be evaluating your personality. Questions I remember getting are about if you’re on time, dependable, a team player, etc. Each question is answered on a Strongly Agree/Agree/Neutral/Disagree/Strongly Disagree scale. Questions MAY be asked more than once, but rephrased. An example a friend used on her blog was “I am always on time” and “I am never late”. Again, this is done in Internet Explorer.

Here are some tips:

First, find a quiet place to take the WBI. - During a Landforms class (yes, I took a class on mountains and rivers) is when I decided to apply. It was an “on a whim”, “it’s now or never” type of decision. Like I mentioned before, I’d been researching the DCP since 2006. Tony and I had just gotten back from our spring break trip and I was in post-Disney blues and couldn’t wait to go back. So, during class I filled out my application and my WBI. Don’t follow in my footsteps, haha! Go to the library or your room and turn off the tv. I also recommend filling out your WBI right after you fill out your application (if you’ve watched your presentation) because you’ll already be in the Disney/application/interview type of mindset.

The WBI is timed. Don’t let this scare you! I was nervous the entire time I took it and while I passed, I probably would have been a lot less shaky throughout if I had relaxed. Don’t rush! You will have PLENTY of time. If I remember correctly, the time limit changes a couple of times during the WBI, but it does tell you how much time you have for each section.

As I stated earlier, questions may be asked more than once, but rephrased. Because of this read carefully. A common way for questions to change are changing from a positive word, to a negative word. You don’t want to accidentally say “Strongly Disagree” if it says “I am never late”. Because, obviously no one wants to hire someone who admits they’re always late.

There are message boards where people talk about the program and the interview processes. Some people feel stressed and that they have to lie. DON’T. Answer honestly!!!! Don’t answer what you think is the “right” answer. Some people say answer positively all the time and to never answer neutral. Don’t listen. There is no trick to passing the interview. I answered honestly with some neutrals and I passed. So no worries. J

After you take the WBI, you will immediately be told if you pass or not. If you pass, they will give you a number to call to set up your phone interview. You will do this within the next few business days after you complete the WBI. If you don’t pass the WBI, you have to wait 6 months before you may retake it.

And that’s it. It’s super easy. Just read carefully, relax, and be honest! Next, we’ll talk about the phone interview!"

I def agree here.
I remember not using neutral a whole lot but didn't answer the extremes that often either. Just relax, be honest, and make sure you are consistent with your answers because they ask a lot of the same questions, just reworded.

Good luck to you!
