Cast:
Me = Claire (33), massive Disney fan, chief planner…(a little on the OCD side
) obsessive shopper, addicted to scrapbooking and very impulsive which doesn’t bode well for our credit cards!
Hubby = Lee (34), not a massive Disney fan but still enjoys it, adrenaline junkie, easy going and the sensible half of our partnership!
14th December 2008.
I woke about 9am today, Lee was still asleep.
We didn’t really have any plans for today other than Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tonight!
Eventually Lee woke about 10am & he had had a better nights sleep, he was feeling a little groggy but wanted to get out & about so we got ready & decided to go to Animal Kingdom Lodge to see the Christmas decorations. I drove over to the resort & we had a look around:
The tree was lovely. We also had a look around the gift shop as I wanted to get a AKL resort tree decoration as they didn’t sell them when we stayed there in 2003. I managed to get one & also a scrapbook kit for Animal Kingdom.
We then drove over to Winter Summerland Miniature Golf.
It was quite busy so we had to wait about 15 minutes. We chose to do the Winter course but I love both of the courses they have here.
As usual Lee won (but he plays golf & I don’t
, well that my excuse!) we were hungry by now & decided to try Tony Roma’s on I-Drive as I had read quite a few good reviews of it here on the DIS. We got seated straight away, to be honest there was only three or four other parties in there.
We both ordered the Potato skins with cheese & bacon to start, which were very nice. I had a milkshake & Lee had a coke. Then as I had heard so many good things about the ribs we both chose the Original baby back ribs…..now I don’t know if the chef was having a bad day or it was just a bad batch but I really did not like the ribs & left them all. Lee ate about half but he wasn’t enjoying them either.
We paid the bill $65 + tip & drove back to the Wilderness Lodge to relax a little before getting ready for Mickey’s Party. Thankfully Lee was feeling a little better today (although I made sure he was still dosed to the eyeballs with flu tablets & cough medicine.)
We got the boat over to the Magic Kingdom arriving about 5.30pm. I was so excited & felt like a little kid!
We entered using out special event tickets & got our wristbands. We took a few photos as we walked up Main Street, it was just starting to get dark.
We headed to…..
We went straight onto Buzz….where yet again I span us in circles for the duration of the ride!
As usual Lee won with a score of 139,000 compared to my much improved 52,400. We had approx 10 minutes before the theatre opened for the special Christmas show, “Mickeys Twas the night before Christmas” so we decided to have another quick go on Buzz again as the Galaxy Theatre was literally next door so there was no point going too far plus I love trying to put Lee off with all the spinning!
I give up...Lee scored 176,800 compared to my pathetic 8,700!
As we came out of the exit people were already entering the theatre, I had heard on the DIS that the theatre is quite small & gets full very quickly so we went straight in and got a seat several rows back. I waited in our seat whilst Lee nipped out to get a drink. We had a 30 minute wait before the show was due to start but the theatre was full (including the standing area at the back) with about 15 mins still to go.
It started on time and was a lovely show, very Christmassy. I loved it!!
