Me = Claire (33), massive Disney fan, chief planner (a little on the OCD side ) obsessive shopper, addicted to scrapbooking and very impulsive which doesnt bode well for our credit cards!
Hubby = Lee (34), not a massive Disney fan but still enjoys it, adrenaline junkie, easy going and the sensible half of our partnership!
11th December 2008.
I woke at 8am this morning, Lee was already up as he hadnt slept much (Im not surprised after all that sleep he got yesterday!
) he still wasnt feeling great but was determined not to waste another day.
We got showered and headed down to the bus stop, it was very overcast this morning but it had been most mornings for the first hour or two but once the sun came out it warmed up lovely well at least thats what had happened every day so far this trip. We waited about 10 minutes and boarded the bus for Epcot. As with all the buses from the WL it went on to the Grand Floridian to pick up the guests there, by the time we got to Epcot it was absolutely pouring with rain!
I didnt even want to get off the bus as I was only wearing cut offs & a t shirt! We decided to just go for it
we ran to the entrance and as soon as we got into the park we headed to the first shop and picked up some ponchos!
We made our way over to Soarin which of course was absolutely packed as everyone was getting out of the rain. I was really keen to do this ride as for some reason which I cant quite remember we didnt do it on our last trip in 2006, so it was new to us both. The waiting time was about 90 mins so we opted for a Fast Past for later, return time of 2.30 3.30pm.
We went back out to see if the rain was slowing up, no such luck it was actually getting worse if that was at all possible! We decided along with the rest of the park to get some food so headed over to Electric Umbrella. I had a cheeseburger, fries & bottle of water, Lee had a grilled Chicken Sandwich, fries & coke. Also as part of the DDP we also got a chocolate chip cookie each but we didnt really want them so gave them to the two little boys sat at the table next to us.
Once we had finished lunch it was still raining so we walked next door to MouseGear where I parted company with lots more $$$.
I bought a Pink WDW hoodie & a really cute pair of slippers which have Mickey head Lollipops on. It was raining so hard still with no sign of slowing up soon so we decided to abandon ship & head back to the resort. We were drenched even though we had ponchos on & I thought it best not to risk us both catching a chill on top of the flu we already have! We did however jump on Spaceship Earth on the way out as there was no queue & again this was a first for us?? We both enjoyed it. I dont know why but we have never really done many rides at Epcot, Test track is the only one that I can think of that we have done on past trips.
We got the bus back to the resort & popped into the shop as I needed to pick up some of the packages that I had sent to the resort from our Downtown Disney shopping day. We got back to the room about 2.30pm and dried off. Lee had a rest on the bed as he was feeling poorly still.
It had stopped rainging by about 3pm & about an hour later we decided that we would head over to the Florida Mall. Lee wanted to see if they had the Sketchers that he liked at Prime & I wanted to have a look in Sephora. We didnt buy much, well I say we Lee never bought anything & I just got a few bits in Sephora. I drove back to the lodge about 7pm & by now we were both hungry. We headed to the Whispering Canyon Café to see if we could get a table for anytime tonight, they said that we could try after 9.30 but we were both too hungry to wait that long and decided upon room service. Unfortunately I havent made notes on what we both ate but I do know we didnt think much of it and decided not to have room service again for the rest of the trip. We watched a film on tv but again I havent noted what!
As we didnt have a waterproof camera
I have no pictures from Epcot today so instead thought I would post some random photos of the Wilderness Lodge that we took at different times throughout our stay.
