Getting Herbie Codes Idea....

I checked with a few rental places yesterday and no codes with the DVD. The package was the "rental" version so nothing extra was included. Makes sense for them with their bulk purchases but would have loved to get the code this way - oh well.

Ok I did call the Block Busters and Hollywood Videos around my area. They had the videos in, both the ones they rent and the ones they sell. Of course they did not open the ones they sold, and they check the ones they rented and found nothing in them as far as a card or paper having any type of code.

Maybe it was just the area around here, but no go...Am I am not going to buy the Herbie Video..lol...Kinda ruined the classic videos in my book...Anywho..no biggie...but wantede to see if anyone actually got the codes from the local video stores...
I also went into the local Hollywood video and they told me the same thing. They get special copies for "rental" purposes and don't usually have any promotional inserts. She said if they do I am welcome to them but I am not getting my hopes up. :confused3
Dang! Guess I am purchasing a few Herbie movies since my daughter and son wants the Herbie stuff too for their characters. :guilty:

I called Blockbuster and heard the same thing. Bummer! I am going to ask Walmart too, since sometimes they play the videos.

Here is what I am doing. I have asked several friends if they are getting the DVD for their child. A few of them are and are kind enough to give me the codes when they get the videos. Depending on how many I get and when (I have two girls and myself) any extras I will gladly share.

i find that the people at hollywood and blockbuster are not very..... well.... they are fine. they just seemed more grumpy and less easy to wrok with about it all. if i would call anyone it would be the small time video stores, the ones who are local and don;t have a big company telling them waht to do. they will get the dvd's "fresh" as it were. :)

I know remember when they used to have the nice old local video store around the corner, I liked them better than the big wigs - they seem a little more pleasant. I received some cool Movie Posters from them too.

okay, here is what I have done....

I have posted on several yahoo groups I belong too, including some Freecycle boards, and some eZboards, and the eBay board I frequent asking for codes from anyone who plans to just throw them out. We will see if I get any codes from that.

To find a freecycle group in your area, just go to freecyle.org and type in your zipcode.

I am also going to ask my friends, and have my son ask his.

I plan to buy a copy of the movie for my family and that will get us one outfit, will type the code in for my sons to share since the tops are gender specific. Then when I can, I will buy another copy and either give the movie to my nephews or to the Children's Hospital in Phoenix. They have a library of DVD's for the child patients to borrow during their stay. If anyone is thinking of buying an extra movie for the code and want to donate the movie, check with your local kid's hospital or women's shelter.
