Getting Headache ... Which Resort?

Okay, I've bit the bullet. I'm going back next year for spring break (only time I can go) ... and solo (first time!) I'm a (student) teacher, and my DS will be his dad, so ... I'm on my own. I've always wanted to do Disney solo, and here's my chance. Thing is, even with all my visits, this time I can't decide where to stay!

These are my options that will stay within my budget (no deluxes, as I just can't justify the cost solo):

Value: Pop: Geat food court, dedicated bus route, lake to walk around. (Cons: stayed here before, not quite my taste thematically, bus only, no real recreation if I want a day out of the parks).

Value: All Stars: Stayed at ASMovies. Not sure about Music or Sports. The price is good, but going without my DS, perhaps too kiddish? (I guess this goes for all the Values).

Moderate: POR/POFQ One of my favourites. Love the lounge with Piano man Bob, boat transpo, quiet pools, lovely walks, and lots to do around the resort. (Cons: been here many times, looking for something new, slow buses and pick ups at the parks quite far).

Moderate: CBR: Stayed here once, back when I was still married (memories). Like the theming and food court, has a lounge, nice walks, beach to laze around. (Cons: bus only, main pool to be closed).

Moderate: CSR: Never stayed here. Not too sure about this one, but there is the spa! More info on this one please!

Thanks much!

I am really excited for you as I would love to go to WDW alone!

Really consider CSR. We loved it. I choose it for a couple of reasons. The fact that it is a convention resort = less kids. The busses dont share with any other resort. The rooms have central air- I really dislike the wall units - they are loud and keep me awake. It is a beautiful resort. We stayed in Casitas and loved it- find buzzes website and look at slide show. That should convince you. The pool is very nice and they make great margaritas poolside. I want to go again and this is where I will probably stay!

I would second the vote for CSR. For one thing, since you haven't been there, you will have a lot to explore on those days you don't want to go to a park. Second, it doesn't share buses with other resorts. Third, it does have some amenities that the other mods don't, including the spa and expanded room service.

What's the deal with the food court at CSR? I think I read on here somewhere that you need to be seated by a server? What if I just want to pick up a muffin and coffee and head out?

Thanks again!

I would choose a new resort....CSR....
Since you are solo.....it's a good time to check out
a new place.....and see if you think your son will like it....
Enjoy....WDW alone:love:

You can get a "TO GO" ticket which allows you to get your food and go and not have to pay the 10%. Lots of places to eat outside or by the pool.

I vote for trying a new one (CSR). I'd like to do a CSR/AKL split stay for our next trip.
Happy planning and have a great trip! :)

LOL, well, I'm going to be different...what about FQ? It is small, quaint, has a nice lounge with Elliot playing Sax Wed thru Sat (or is it Thursday thru Sun?), safe and easy to head over the POR if you want to see Bob the Piano Man.

Never had a problem with buses here - has the boat to DTD :)

Or you could try AS Music - those rooms have been refurbished and close to the food court.

If I was alone would most likely choose POP - like the comfort of lots of families around and would pay for a pref room to be near the main building, and the cost would be a nice savings. :)

CSR is sooo spread out, do not think I'd like that being alone.

Whichever you choose, have a great trip!!

I agree with what you're saying. CSR is just so big. To me spa time is something I do at home. If you're talking about a hot tub, POFQ has one and it much quieter than the one at CSR. I've heard of some wild things happening at the hot tub at CSR. I realize you've stayed there before. But have you thought about AKL or WL? I'd go there before CSR.

From someone who has stayed at both resorts, I would easily choose CSR. Better (non shared) transportation, and awesome main pool area, a huge hot tub, the spa is great (had a massage) and the food choices are better. We've never had a problem at CSR in our experiences.

I would also agree that when you are alone is the time to try CSR to see if it will be a place you can go back to with your son.

I think it is a gorgeous resort. I love it at night...the way they light it is stunning. It's a fairly large resort, but it's easy to get around...IMHO easier and less confusing than a lot of the moderates because it sort of circles around the lake. The main pool is nice. The quiet pools are nice. I have never heard any stories about what goes on at the hot tub, nor have I seen anything "unusual" and we have stayed there numerous times and been at the hot tub at different times of the day and night. The food (both the food court and the restaurant) are good. The food court is such that you get seated and served your beverages by a server and for this they add a 10% surcharge when you pay, which you do on the way out. Personallly, I don't love that system, but it's also not a deal-breaker for me either. And as someone said, if you get the stuff to go, you avoid the surcharge and can dine outside which I LOVE to do on vacation.

Since it is a convention hotel, there is a bit more of an "adult" atmosphere. They have a nice lounge as well.

Thanks all! Still not too sure what I'm doing, but I'm it's looking like Pop. (I can save the money for the next trip with DS and go monorail Deluxe!)
