Getting frustrated with ob/gyn office

I went in for my first ob appt last Thursday, basically it was pregnancy confirmation. I had blood drawn as well. They told me to call back on Friday for the blood results.

We were heading to Disney so I called on my cell and left a message telling them to call my cell. Never heard from them and just went through the weekend. On our way home from Orlando, I checked our home messages and there was one from the office telling me to call their office but it was after hours by this time.

So I call this morning and leave another message. There is the number the doctor gave me to call & the phone number the person who called left, both very similar from the same office. So I call the original number again and the nurse picks up. She tells me she doesn't see any blood results in my chart or record I had the blood drawn and has no idea who would have called me from the office. She tells me she will call the lab and call me back.

Phone rings a little while later and it's the person who left the message. Has nothing to do with the pregnancy at all, she is from the front desk to tell me she accidentally charged my card twice and refunded one of them.

Get to 2 hours later and I leave another message with the original phone number who is my doctors nurse... getting irritated at this point, I just want my blood test results at this point.

3 hours later which was just a few minutes ago, she finally calls me back. She starts the conversation with "well, I have bad news". So my heart is racing like uh oh, what's wrong with my blood tests. She THEN proceeds to tell me that the lab never had any record of my blood and she asks me if I was SURE they took blood last Thursday and I was like um yea, my arm is still black and blue from where you took it.

So now I have to go all the way back to the office first thing tomorrow morning to have the blood redrawn... sigh!

I've been with this office for all 3 of my pregnancies and love my doctor, but wondering why they are just so disorganized anymore. And to start a conversation dealing with blood test results with "I have bad news", how horrible!

Thanks for letting me vent... I am still having trouble getting used to the idea of a 4th child, it was a total surprise.

Hope all goes well. We had tried for 6 years to have a child and went for testing-which came back positive. We were in shock and could not believe it. 2 hours later we were called back to the office-they had mixed up the blood tests and our results were negative. Mistakes do happen, but the emotional roller coaster we were sent on was incredible.

Until I read where you said you loved your doctor & had been through 3 pregnancies with her, I was going to suggest to switch doctors. I would let her know at your next appointment about how sloppy the service & organization has been.

If it's any consellation, I had trouble dealing with the idea of ONE child... but I wouldn't be without her now

I would tell the physician, since you have a relanionship with him/her, that the office is chaotic and disorganized. The staff work for the physicians, the physicians should be aware that the front end is doing their credibility a disservice.

Have you ever had problems like this before with this clinic/dr's office in the many years you have used this clinic? If not, I would chalk it up to someone having a bad day, if it is common, you need to talk to the dr.
