What would be the fastest way? Bus or boat to MK then bus to Riviera?

That would work. You could also take a bus to any other park or Disney Springs and then the bus to Riviera.

What time of day would you be going?

You don't want to take the boat to MK in order to catch the bus to Riveria because the WL boat dock has been moved so that it is now next to the walkway to GF. It would be better to take the bus to MK and then catch the bus to Riviera. :)

Okay thank you!

I agree with bus to MK and then bus to Riviera, but if I had a lot of time, for fun I might take the bus to DHS and the Skyliner to Riviera (transferring at CBR), UNLESS I would need to be traveling near park open/close times.

This will be for breakfast. Will buses be taking people from MK to resorts in the mornings?

How early? If buses are running from the resorts to MK, they have to go back from MK to the resorts to pick up more guests. I would definitely follow Disney's recommendation to allow 90 minutes to travel from one resort (WL) to another (Riviera), though, since you may have to wait at WL for the MK bus and then wait at MK for the Riviera bus.

Hoping to get a reservation for around 10:00

Then you should be fine - buses will be running more or less every 20 minutes from WL to MK and MK to Riviera, although be sure to allow for delays. I'd plan to leave WL about 90 minutes before my ADR time - if all the star align and you get to Riviera very early, it's a beautiful resort and you'll have time to wander around!

Thank you! Yes I can’t wait to see it and hoping we can get a reservation for Topolinos. It’s a popular breakfast.

We were staying at WL and had a 9:30 breakfast at ‘Ohana on Thursday. We took the bus from WL to MK and then then hopped on the bus to the Poly. It took about 20 minutes for us to get there. Also, if taking the WL boat, it leaves from the first set of docks. The Poly and GF boats use the dock closest to the GF walkway.

To or from Riviera (snip) avoid using Epcot as a bus transfer point (snip).

(To make the preceding sentence rigorously correct, lots of verbiage with the word "Skyliner" and numerous uses of the word "if" need to be inserted where "snip" is shown.)

I'll just add that we tried WL boat to MK then bus to Riviera last week for a 9:25a reservation at Topolino's. We got to the MK bus depot at 8:29 and waited 43 minutes for a bus. I had to ask 2 bus drivers when bus would come and the 2nd one called dispatch to come get us. We we're late to our reservation arriving at 9:40a. The host was very understanding and seated us right away. The breakfast was delicious and Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Diasy came around at least 6 times while we dined. I had the quiche and the kids had the Mickey waffle dippers which were presented so cute. Highly recommend this experience but don't take the bus from MK. I thought an hour was enough time and I was wrong.

I always thought that 90 minutes would be way too much time, but I guess they were right. Just reading the title of this thread stressed me out...too much thinking and planning. I like the rental car route, but not the cost!

I am glad you were able to have a pleasant meal.

What time did MK open that day? Since they don't expect people to be leaving the theme parks at that early hour, it's not surprising that there was no bus service to Riviera at that time.

I don't really remember, 8 or 9am, but I don't really agree with your logic. If the busses are running then each stop should be available in both directions. Do people never forget something at the resort and have to go back? We saw no less 2 dozen busses go by, many with "refilling my pixie dust" signs, and many stopped at other resort bays. Also if busses were going by and saw people waiting good customer service would have been to stop or dispatch sooner than 43 minutes. Idk just my opinion. I was upset at the time but it turned out OK in the end. I should have take a lyft or uber but I have 2 littles and wasn't sure about the car seat situation with ride share.

It doesn't work that way. If buses to the theme parks in the morning went back to the resort they came from, they'd be spending half their time running empty. Instead, buses generally pick up guests at a resort near their base park and take them to a distant park, then pick up at resort near that 2nd park and take them to their base park.

However, there is supposed to be someone watching the stops at the park to see if there is anyone waiting, and then notify the dispatcher who is supposed to send a bus. Sounds like either that person was not doing their job, or no was assigned to do it due to short staff. And bus drivers are not free to stop at any stop they want to pick up passengers. In the past, good drivers would notify the dispatcher when they saw people waiting, but that may no longer be encouraged since the radios on the buses have been replaced by telephone handsets, which I've heard drivers are not supposed to use when the bus is moving.
