Is the best way a cab? Was thinking of trying to take the monorail from Epcot on the way over and maybe a cab back. Is there a site that gives approximate cab fares? Thanks so much.

Assuming CG is California Grill, I would just take a bus to MK and walk to the Contemporary.

Bus to MK and then walk is one option. However, be mindful of operation times (and high heels!). It is possible to end your dinner (or even start it) after the MK closes and the buses have stopped running. If that is the case, then taxi is the best (only) way to go. "Taxifarefinder" shows a fare of around $20 in light to moderate traffic, which it always is.

Taxi about $15
Just ask at guest services at the CR for one
But a nice way back if EPCOT is still open
Monorail back to EPCOT - walk through to the boat dock and boat back to the S/D

We love dinner at the CR - Cali Grill - best way to see the MK fireworks and the food is wonderful.

We have done taxi's and they are the best way to get somewhere fast - JUST make sure the taxi drive knows where they are going.
Some are better than others. We got out of one taxi when the taxi driver had know idea how to get to another resort from the Dolphin. The taxi driver only knew how to get to Orlando airport. So be where - ask the taxi driver if he has heard of the CR and knows how to get there, then carefully listen to the answer - if there is "awh's" or "um's" get out and find another taxi.

Just our FYI

You can try Uber as well. I used it in November and it worked out great!

We tend to bus to DTD from our resort and via DTD on the way back that works out best for us ok so it takes a bit of time but it's free. We did luck out one night that the bus we were on back to DTD changed when it got there to one back to our resort.

Just remember that you have to have a valid ticket for Epcot if you want to go from Swan to the monorail from Epcot to TTC.

Personally, going I would probably bus to MK and then walk to Contemporary or boat to DHS and then bus to Contemporary. I probably would not want to walk the extra through Epcot to get to the monorail before going to CG, especially if the weather is hot as I tend to sweat.

That would really be going out of the way for the OP's scenario since their resort is near Epcot and their ADR is near MK. You should use a park that's near either your starting point or your destination as a transfer point. I will concede though that I'll use DTD as a transfer point when going back to my resort because I like having an excuse to do some shopping. ;)

Silly question, but how far is the walk from MK to the Contemporary? We haven't been in a long time.

7-10 minute walk, depending on your pace.

Yes I just realised that but yeah it's a good excuse to get in more shopping

And its maybe a mile and half walk from the Swan, through the IG, out the front gates, to the Epcot Monorail station, then you have to transfer to another monorail and still have to walk from the MK to the CG. Maybe 2 hours.

Swan to MK is much faster.
