I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place or not.
We right now have reservations for Boma on our first night. My mother is going to be arriving after us. Can she take a cab from CSR to the animal kingdom lodge? I know on buses she would have to transfer at animal kingdom, and that would take a while.

Definately she could take a cab. She just needs to have the front desk call one for her.

That is always our back up plan if we have adr's and need to get somewhere.

Bell Services right by the lobby entrance will have a cab for you in minutes

take bus to Downtown Disney then take the AK Lodge bus and get off at first stop-- Boma's is in that section of resort. drivers good to tell you as well. as for as your Mom if she has not rode the buses maybe taking a cab be easier for her and then take bus back with you all:thumbsup2. If your already at AK can take the AK Lodge bus on over there or we did in September 2011:surfweb: OR your Mom could tale the AK bus from resort and --agree-- on a meeting time out front of AK (if your already goin to that park) and then all of you take the AK lodge bus together and eliminate the cab ride

Yes. And the short answer is that taxi is going to be by far the easiest and fastest option. As other have said, the resort can have one ready for her in minutes.

Actually unless she is arriving before 5pm, going to AK is likely not an option.

I think a pp poseter was trying to say that guest services would actually tell her to go to DTD if she doesn't want to take a taxi.(A HUGE pain!) (Though she could likley do a transfer by going to Epcot or HS, which are closer, but still time consuming pain.)

Further, if she is at pressed for time when she arrives at CSR - and arrives with any luggage but doesn't want to bring her luggage to her room. She can drop it off at bell services and they will hold it for her until she goes to her room. When she gets to her room she simply has to call to have her luggage deliverd (plus perhaps a tip). (though she could also use ME luggage services for all her checked bags)

However - if she has DDP - then she will need to CHECK IN to get her DDP and room key. (Or at least one person in her room will need to check-in) DDP is done per individual room.

Still one more consideration....once I start resolving to take taxis....I also quickly start to look for rental car deals. It depends what she prefers - but sometimes it's you can get a great deal ona rental car. Picking up a rental car at MCO is faster than ME. Sometimes you save two hours that way.

Still one other consideration - like if her flight is delayed - she COULD take a taxi (or towncar) from MCO directly to AKL. It would cost more (last time I priced towncars it was about $60 one way if reserved in advance) But that would be quite a bit faster than the ME/taxi combo. A towncar will also usually allow a quick grocery store stop along the way. (A rental car might be as inexpensive as $100-150 per week.)

Um . . . no. The buses to and from DTD are few and far between. This is probably the longest way to go. Edited to remove incorrect information.

Have your mother take the cab. She can either find one waiting at CSR, or just have bell services call one for her. Shouldn't cost more than $20 including tip. Have her tell the cab that she wants to go to AKL - Jambo House.

I thought the DTD buses were the only ones that did Jambo first then Kidani (w/ the park buses doing Kidani then Jambo.) I try not to use DTD as a transit point, I always seem to wait forever there. Cabs are fast and easy.

Is it really a $20 cab ride? It is only about 2.75 miles according to google earth from CSR to AKL.

She will be landing about 3 hours prior to our reservation. I am hoping she will have time to land, get to the hotel on ME, get checked in and have a little while to rest before heading off to dinner. I am now thinking I may be wrong on that one. Oh, we will have the ddp

Should I move dinner to a restaurant in on of the parks instead (easier to get to by bus)? I also could always make a reservation for the hotel restaurant (Mayan grill)

Seems like every cab I've ever taken around WDW is in the vicinity of $20 including tip.

Our plane was on time and it took us a good 90-100 mins on ME to get to our resort and another 30-40 mins at check-in. So she'd have time to get to the ADR probably but not to rest if the timing is similar, which it may or may not be. If I were you, I'd make the ADR for later or else do it at a park or at CSR. If you change it to a restaurant in a park, consider that she should allow about 30-40 mins or so to take the bus to the park. The good part about taking a cab is that transportation time is minimal.

Even this is quite good timing. I had a flight that was supposed to land at 4:30pm. I don't recall if it landed exactly on time - but I think it was right around the correct time. At 7:10pm, I was still on the ME bus. It kind of depends on timing.

At teh opposite end, a relative once landed, took ME to room, dropped off bags, and hopped ona park bus - she happened somehow got to the gate about 50 minute after he plane was supposed to land. Not sure how she managed that - except that all the timeing was perfect, and she was the FIRST ME WDW stop. There's quite a difference between being the first ME stop and the third.

Then there's flight delays.

So nap is not a resonable expectation. In fact, she could EASILY miss dinner, if her flight is delayed at all.

Within MCO, you have to take a monorail, and that alone can be somewhat variable. Then you have to wait in several lines for ME - which also can be quite variable.

If her flight is delayed - then the most feasible way to make dinner may well end up being to take a towncar or taxi directly from MCO to Boma.

All that said - if she arrives to AKL ahead of being seated, the lobby is AKL is very relaxing. If you check in for dinner, you can take your beeper up to the lobby and relax on the comfy chairs and couches.

All that said, dinner at the Pepper market is one alternative that could work. I love Boma, so I'd try and make it work. Getting to a park though woudl be complicated. Also, I thikn the new fee thigns changes things. I would not change your current ADR for one that is under the new cc penalty fee system.

Last year we were the last stop on DME, where did the bus stop before us?
Pop, Allstars music, sports and movies, CSR, CBR and maybe one other before AKL. We had very late ressies @ MK @ the Crystal Palace and I was growing concerned that my 4 hr. window was not enough given the 'scenic' DME ride. The year before we were @ the Poly and were the first stop - karma, I suppose.

We took a cab to Boma from CSR last week for breakfast and it was right at $11, including tip. It was the cheapest cab ride we took, but the most expensive was $15 I think. There was always a cab at CSR when we needed one and it took 10-15 mins at most to get everywhere we went (Boma, Polynesian, GF, and Boardwalk)

Oh, sorry - you're correct. I've changed my post so no one gets confused.
