What is the fastest and least stressful way to get back to your resort, not a Monorail Resort, from MK following Wishes? Our last trip in March DS and I stayed a couple of nights to see the fireworks. The bus trip back was so long. Not the trip itself but waiting in line for the bus. I wondered if it might be easier to catch a bus to DTD and then get a bus back to our resort. Or even take the Monorail to Epcot and then a bus back to the hotel. Anyone ever done this?

completely depends - sometimes the bus is the fastest (and generally is) of getting back to your WDW resort.

if you went to DD you would have to wait for 2 buses - one going to DD then your resort bus. plus the DD buses are the slowest ones. (there are 3 stops in DD/PI area).

the Epcot monrail would be even slower - you need to take either the express or resort monrail to TTC then transfer to Epcot. If the lines to the buses are long - the monrail lines are even longer. then you still have to get in your buses line.

WDW tries to get their guests back to their resorts in pretty short order. but kept in mind - they have ALOT of new drivers. New drivers get lost among of other things. We had one that went back to the resort from Epcot through MK....

So for the next few months just learn to be patience. once these guys and gals are trained - hopefully they will stay at while.

some of the WDW bus drivers are retiring - which is why they are constantly training new ones.

Thanks for the information. One night, thought, following wishes we waited over an hour for a bus. I am thinking the lines for the buses to DTD and then DTD to the resort aren't nearly that long. I guess I would feel that at least I was getting somewhere.

Taking the Resort monorail to the TTC is the way to go, if you have to return there. The monorail resort guests seem to be the most graceful (meaning they are more likely to offer a seat to a lady) so it is much easier to board that monorail (especially with a stroller) then to wait with the mob at the TTC express monorail - or God forbid the Ferry. You can usually get on one and off your feet very quickly.

The least stressful thing to do is don't leave with the crowds. Let the crowds rush out while you step aside, then wander slowly toward the front gate, drinking in the atmosphere, meandering through the Main Street shops, etc. (you can probably still buy an ice cream). Spend that time inside MK instead of in the bus lines.

We hit the bakery and get goodies for breakfast the next day. But the lines can be long in there too and sometimes the goodies don't make it to the resort as we eat them standing in the bus line!

it is chaotic to immediately leave MK after wishes because the park is closed and everyone is leaving. one thing you can do is just wait for the crowds to die down a bit. you know as soon as mickey and the gang start talking at the end of the show, people will be flocking to the main gates. just sit back and relax. get a bottle of water or a snack. the stores will be jam packed with people as well.

i think a good way to see wishes and not be stressed out about getting back to your hotel is go to MK when they have their EMH for the night. everyone that doesn't have the bracelets will leave and you can just sit back and relax. just find a bench or some place where you won't get trampled and let the crowds die down. once the crowds die down, then, you can pop in and out of stores or even go on rides if you want. i think this will work out good for you if you see wishes when MK has their EMH. give it a try and let us know how it turned out.
