Getting from MCO to Swan w/scooter

I will be travelling July 10th via Continental. Although I have been to DW before, I have always been with family and have used my wc in the airport. This time, I will be with two friends who have health issues and I wouldn't ask them to push, so I am taking my own scooter.

What I need to know is who you have used for transportation. The scooter only weighs 95 lbs and is very compact (and comes apart easily.) I am not sure if I should try to book a with a company that uses a van or if I should find one with a w/c lift. Unfortunately, renting a vehicle isn't an option, so I need to use one of the transportation companies.

Any help is very appreciated!

Unfortunately, Magical Express does not service the Swolphin. One question, though... if I'm understanding you correctly, you usually would (with DH) use a wc while at the airport, pushed by him, and then would you use a wc or a rented ecv at the hotel/parks?

The reason I ask is this: I believe you could (1) have a Skycap meet you at the airplane & push you all the way to where you'd get on whatever transportation you'd use to get to the Swolphin normally, and can (2) have an ECV from one of the rental companies waiting for you at the hotel's bell desk when you arrive. If that would work, then you can use whatever transportation's easiest for you. If that wouldn't work, I'd suspect you could use a van or almost any transportation company that you book in advance, so long as you tell them that you've got an ECV that they'll need to break down (under your direction) and put in the vehicle to transport.

Hope this might help! Enjoy the Magic!

As others have said, you cannot use Magic Express to get from MCO to non-Disney hotels such as Swan and Dolphin.

However, before Magical Express was introduced, I always used Mears coach service to get from MCO to Disney. (I ride a powerchair). In addition to their normal fleet of coaches (which still serve all non-Disney hotels) they have a few wheelchair vans with rear wheelchair lifts which will easily carry you and your ECV.

Actually, all the Magical Express coaches are owned and operated by Mears who are under contract to provide the service.

I wish this would work, but I was unable to get a handicap room and my scooter fits through a regular door. Also, I cannot ask my friends to push me as one had a kidney transplant and is fighting cancer on her hands and the other has a tumor on her liver. I don't have the upper body strength to push myself anymore. I have braces on both my legs now and cannot walk for any distance. My DH has passed and so I no longer have his help.

My friends have never been to DW and really want to go to have a super time before it is no longer possible to travel. Because of medical costs, all of us are on a budget. They will be renting ECVs and storing them with the bell men -- but they can walk well enough to get from the lobby to our room.

Sorry if this is TMI, but I wanted to explain our situation.

As Andrew stated, use Mears!! They have great accessible vans, and you will most likely get a private ride in the van to the Swan.

Go to the website and book online and then they will usually have the accessible van waiting for you at the airport.

Then for your return, just call the night before and confirm your pickup time and remind them that you need the accessible van.

FYI, with the start of Magical Express it is also possible that even though you are paying for a Mears van, since Mears runs the buses they may put you on an accessible Magical Express bus and you'll be put on a bus heading for Yacht/Beach/Boardwalk and then be dropped at the Swan after that run is over.

Thank you so much for the replies--Mears it is! I'll be calling them to reserve later today.

I am so excited about going and showing my friends that 3 grandmas can really have a fun time in spite of a suitcase full of meds:dance3
