My fiance proposed last May during the Wishes fireworks at Magic Kingdom. We were standing on a bridge and just as the lights went down he asked me to do him a favour and not ask any questions. He then took my purse, put it on the ground and asked me to turn around (towards the water & away from the fireworks), put my hand out and close my eyes. He then placed a penny in my hand and asked me to wish for the one thing I really wanted him to do that week but never thought he would, throw the penny in the water and turn around. When I turned around, the music was playing, he was down on one knee with the ring box in hand and the first fireworks were going off. He then asked me to marry him (of course I said YES!!! :goodvibes ) and in the excitement I accidentally gave him my right hand! :lovestruc Everyone around us was clapping and it was just amazing! Oh course we are now getting married at Yacht Club Wedding Gazebo May 20th, 2006 at 2:00! So excited!

My husband made me suffer all through our first day in the MK. I figured it was going to happen on the carousel but it didn't. We also got soaked on Splash Mountain and not from the splash but from the torrential rain that came once we got into our log LOL.

After part of the day in the park we went back to our room at the Boardwalk and the concierge staff had wine already in the room. We drank out of engraved champagne Mickey & Minnie glasses. Still no ring! Finally at Shula's for dinner Rick proposed. The staff all congratulated us and gave us free dessert. Back to the BWI (in the rain again) for champagne and call home to announce the news.

Hi there!

My fiance too also proposed at Wishes. He proposed afterwards. We were sitting on the round benches right in front of the castle. After it was over he looked at me (tears in his eyes) and said "will you make all my wishes come true, will you marry me?" I thought i would fall off the bench I was in such shock. I thought it would happen this trip because i live for disney and wdw, we only visit once a year christmas time (my favorite time of year), i have more christmas decorations than anyone I know (except for my mom) and I am only 23!!! LOL. But in all the excitement of the getting down there, being there, the Christmas party...I totally forgot about the whole idea of a proposal. My younger brother was also with us at the time kinda standing around, i think he didn't know what to do. he was behind me when it happened. When I looked at my fiance when he proposed, I could see the beautiful castle behind him, in it's night time colors. It was so magical. Everyone was so excited. A friend of the family who works down there at the Port Orleans French Quarter had bought me disney wedding pins (she already knew it was coming sometime), she had balloons and a cinderella card/picture waiting in our room the next night. The whole experience was unbelievable. Hard to believe anything could top that (but our Wedding surely will).

Any way that someone proposes down in Disney is wonderful, there are so many romantic settings and as long as people are themselves, it is magical.

Have A Disney Day!!

My DH proposed to me at Cinderella's Royal Table during the character breakfast. At the end of our meal the waitress came over and asked to take a picture of us. Dh came around and knelt beside me and then several other waitress' appeared one carrying the ring on a glass slipper. I was completely shocked and of course said yes. I was on Cloud 9 the entire rest of the trip.

DH had arranged things with the manager of CRT the day before.

Hi,

My husband proposed to me at Epcot right before the finale of IllumiNations. It was just the oddest, funniest, and most romantic thing. He wanted to propose at the Rose and Crown since we both adore English things. Well, that place was packed out to the rafters. So, he starts leading us all over, trying to find a secluded spot before the show started. Meanwhile, since we started out at the Rose and Crown, I was sporting a half-yard of Guinness and was getting silly since we hadn't eaten in a while. So, between Japan and Morocco, he found us an open space to stand that wasn't near many people. I still had no idea why it was so important to have a secluded space...we were able to see everything from just about anyplace...? :rotfl2:

So the end of the show starts up, he fumbles in the camera bag, gets down on one knee, asks me to marry him and in my joy and happiness and sheer surprise of the moment, I say, "Yes, please."

We were married at the rose garden at Disneyland two years to the day of the proposal. :bride: :groom:

i took this out of a trip report when i got engaged at WDW.

It was June 13, 2003. We had dinner at the California Grill. During dessert, Rob said to me, “After dinner, I want to check out the Wedding Pavilion. You’re supposed to get a great view of the castle.”

So, that’s exactly what we did after dinner. We followed all these signs to get to the pavilion. When we got to the Pavilion, He asked me to read the sign to see if there was a phone number on it. While I read the sign, I heard the Velcro for his pocket open. I just shook my head very slightly and paid no mind to the Velcro. We walked along the beach there admiring the view. There were these beach chairs and we sat down next to each other. There was an electric water parade going on and we watched it. After a few minutes, Rob stood up to stretch. He then stood in front of me and started kissing my forehead and at the same time, he was asking me if I was having a good time, if I was having fun, basically questions where my answer was yes. Then he said, “Well, I hope you’ll say yes to my next question.” He got down on one knee and held my hands. My jaw dropped and my eyes immediately got watery. All I remember hearing was, “Maria, I love you.” Already, tears were running down my face. He pulled the ring out of his pocket, put it on me and said, “I know it will be for a while, but will you marry me?” I just looked in his eyes and cried a little harder for a second. The first thing that popped out of my mouth was “Of course.” He got up and hugged me and I cried harder. He got on his knees again and asked me why I looked sad. I told him I wasn’t sad. He asked me why I was crying. I really couldn’t answer his questions. I was just in shock. He sat back down and told me to sit with him. He put his arms around my stomach and asked if I was happy. I was able to answer him that time. The electric parade continued. There were stars and an American Flag. I can’t remember what song they were playing. When it finished, I heard clapping and cheering.

We left the beach and headed to the Grand Floridian. Rob had his arm over my shoulder. When we got closer to the hotel, I looked down at the ring. The light made the diamonds look pink. I asked him if they were pink. He said no. We went into the lobby and found the bathroom. I was in there for a few minutes to not only use the facilities, but to also blow my nose and clean my face. I also got to take a good look at the ring. It is very beautiful. When I got out of the bathroom, he was waving his hand to me and asked if I had my autograph book. I said no and why? He pointed to a spot. I looked over and there was the Fairy Godmother. “Oh, man! I don’t have my book and my camera!! Man!!” We went back to our hotel and called it a night.
The funny thing about that night when Rob proposed, it was Friday the 13th, there was a full moon, and a lighting storm was right behind us while we were on the beach.

Life in my house revolves around Disney. J/k. Well, sort of. :p The first time my fh told me he loved me (and me him) was right in from of the Castle.
When he asked me to marry him we were right in front of the Wedding Pavillion. Neither of us had ever been to the Grand Floridian before, so one day on our way to The Magic Kingdom, we decided to hop off the monorail and check it out. John asked if, since we were there, I'd like to walk down to the pavillion and check it out. Silly question. So, we walked down the beach and were talking and I was taking some pictures when he turned me around to face him, gave me a Lovely speech, of which I could barely remember :love2: , and asked me to marry him! :lovestruc
We are planning to get married at Disney on September 11th, 2006!

thank you for all of your stories!!!

congradulations to those of you who just got engaged...

anyone else with a great wdw story?

My FI proposed to me at the MK too. We were there for our two year dating anniversary and I *knew* it was going to happen at some point. Every time he got something out of his pocket my breath would catch. :goodvibes We had lunch at CRT, but no ring. We walked around the rose garden, still no ring. I was nervous and he knew it. He suggested that we walk over the HM, my favorite ride. I relaxed on the ride, in the dark, when suddenly, as the doom buggys were passing the 'swinging wake' ballroom scene he reached for my hand and slide on the ring and proposed. I was so taken off gaurd. He knew I was expecting it and managed to surprise me anyway! I couldn't get a good look at the ring until outside (after saying yes in 'the attic') and was on cloud nine for the rest of the day.... :cloud9:

Unlike some people, I had no idea it was coming. The trip was a Valentine's Day gift, but we didn't end up going until December of that year. Not that I minded because there is nothing like Disney at Christmas time. We had spent our first day at the MK gone back to the hotel for a rest, and were heading back to the MK for MVMCP. Even though the party hadn't officially started the snow was already falling on main street and the castle was lit up with snow flakes. We were waiting for the rest of the park to reopen, so we took a walk through the rose garden next to the castle. He told me to stand there so that he could take my picture in front of the castle. Well, the flash went off, and the next thing I know he has a ring in his hand, and is telling me how much he loves me, and asks if I will marry him. Through the tears, I think I managed to say yes. It was so perfect. It is our favorite place in the world, but it was still a secluded spot so it was just the two of us. Of course I did tell anyone else we encountered for the rest of the week that we had just gotten engaged. Hey, I had to wait 5 days to see either of our family and friends, so I had to show someone the beautiful ring!

I love my husband for proposing to me in Disney World. It began a most magical journey - and led us to choose Disney as they place where we exchanged vows on 11/14/03.

The last time I had been to Disney World was when I was about 13
years old. My family used to go to Disney at least once every 2
years or so - and it was my favorite place for vacation. Always
happy and magical. We had always stayed in the park - usually at the
Polynesian - and on our last trip we stayed for the first time at the
Grand Floridian - which was recently finished. MGM hadn't even
opened yet - it opened a month after our trip.

Well, as it turned out, that was our last family Disney vacation. My
Dad passed away when I was 15, and I hadn't had the chance to go back
since.

Michael and I started dating in 1998 - and since then we've been to
Vegas, Italy, France, and a cruise to Canada and New England. We
love vacations and were always thinking where we could go next.
Michael knew how much I loved Disney and it was an obivious next
choice. Well, I originally looked into a Disney vacation for this
year - staying on property, etc. (I had never done Disney any other
way) - it was really beyond our budget. So we booked a cruise to the
Western Caribbean that I got a realy good deal on - as it happens we
were going on the same cruise as my mom and step-dad. After we
booked it, Michael comes up with an idea. His sister is Diane
Sawyer's personal assistant at ABC - and has Cast Member status. His
brother was working for Marriott at the time. He suggested that we
use his bro's Marriott discount and his sister's CM discount on
passes to extend our trip. We did after all have the vacation time.
How could I refuse $30/night hotel rates on Hotel Plaza Blvd - and
really cheap passes. Not ideal but Disney is better than no Disney
right?

So since I'm usually the travel planner and he came up with this all
on his own, I immediately started to think - ok, he'll propose at
Disney. What could be more perfect and special. But Michael was on
to me. He kept saying that he was working on the ring, didn't have
what he needed yet, and stop pushing. Well, I'd say but Disney is
the most magical, romantic place on earth. He'd reply, "Yes Dear.
Disney is the most magical place on earth for everyone but Ann
Monahan." So after a while of that, I figured "Well Ann, you know it
will happen but you just have to accept it won't happen at Disney."
And so I wouldn't be disappointed for the whole vacation, I convinced
myself not to expect anything.

Well, finally we leave for vacation. We got their Friday night, spent
the first night in Downtown Disney, and hit the parks the next day.
I had never been to MGM before and we had a blast. It was still a
dream come true for me to be in Disney after so long.

That night we had PS at Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner. We had
made the reservation exactly 60 days prior. I had eaten there as a
child and I told Mike that this was my special treat. We knew that
night was the only night during our entire stay that there was
SpectroMagic and the Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks. I was very
excited.

Well we take the Downtown Disney bus to the MK - or so we thought -
but get dropped off at the T&T Center - and then have to catch the
ferry to the park - and soon we're cutting it really close to our PS -
and I find myself in the MK for the 1st time in 13-14 years running
up mainstreet to the castle. Well, Cinderella and her friends were
dancing on the stage in front of the castle - Mike's like "I guess
we'll just have to wait until the show is over - and I'm like, "I
will not miss this reservation" and we run around the back to the
restaurant. Once we get there, they take us to the waiting area
which was packed - and Mike and I start laughing. We wait about a
half hour and Mary Poppins came for a visit. We finally got a
picture in the throne - and then "The Royal Connors family is called
to table."

We go upstairs where they seat us right in the middle of the room.
It was nice. I felt good - I was wearing a pretty blue dress (I tend
to dress up more than other people) - and I was happy just to be
sitting across from my honey. He sat across from me because of the
tapestry runner on the table - the table really was for 4 so he was
pretty far but it was nice. We kept raving how good and cold the
drinks were - that was the highlight. We ate a nice dinner - and
then Mike start's asking me if I want to go to the bathroom. "They
probably have really nice bathrooms in here - You sure you don't want
to go?" I didn't take the bait - so finally Mike gets up to go to
the bathroom. He comes back and sits down. The waiter asks us if we
want dessert. I tell Mike - no I'm pretty full - I'll just taste
yours. Mike orders some nice chocolate mousse thing.

The waiter brings the dessert and is about to place it in front of
Michael - who gestures for him to place it in from of me. The
waiter - who did not know what Michael was about to do -
says, "According to the gentleman the princess must always come
before the prince." I smile and say "Hey Michael - he says I'm a
princess... so am I a princess?" And Michael gets up and comes
around the table as if he's going to sit closer to me so we can split
the dessert, and says "Yes Baby, you're a priness" - but instead of
sitting down he got down on his knee. At first I was confused and
thought he was nuts - but then I saw the ring. It was the most
beautiful engagement ring I'd ever seen - so much more than I had
hoped for - and I burst into tears. Hysterical tears. I buried my
face in his shoulder and eventually said yes. I just couldn't stop
crying I was so overwhelmed and so happy.

The people in the restaurant realize a proposal had just taken place -
and our waiter was shocked - and asked Michael why he hadn't said
anything. Michael just shrugged and grinned.

The Maitre D came over in his Cinderella clothes and asked our
names. He then announced for the entire restaurant "Here Ye! Here
Ye! Lord Michael has just proposed to Lady Ann and she has
accepted! Hurrah!!!" Everyone clapped and started clinging glasses
for us to kiss. I kept crying. People started coming up to us -
giving us cell phones to call my mom, congratulating us, wanting to
see my ring. Our waiter brought us a set of toasting glasses - which
we will use at our engagement party. They were so nice to us - it
was so magical.

We took some pictues, Mike paid the check and we left. Needless to
say I was still crying tears of joy and the dessert was left
untouched.

We headed outside - found someone to take our pictures before the
caste - my eyes are all red in the pics, and we sat down on the curb
to call our families and wait for the parade. I get teary-eyed when
I hear the Spectro Magic theme - the part about the magic in the
night. I still get chills when I hear the Spectro Magic theme. It brings me right back to the night we got engaged.

We hugged and snuggled and watched the parade then the fireworks -
more because we didn't know what else to do. After the fireworks, we
sat on a bench and waited for the park to clear out before we got on
the ferry. We just hugged and snuggled and called friends on our
cell phones.

I must say that was the first time in my life someone had truly
surprised me - and I thank him for trying to throw me off - because
it made his proposal and our engagement even more magical and
memorable.

Disney was the natural place for us to hold our special day. Our closest friends and family were there, my True Love, my Dad was there in spirit - and the Disney Magic.

So that's our fairy tale ...

How I proposed...A Disney Fairy Tale:

The Background: We have had some problems previously with bus service at the hotel we stayed at this trip. I spent a couple of months building up to her that I kept complaining about this service problem (Side note, the service was much better this trip).

Disney World used to have an entire department dedicated just to engagements. I have to take a moment to thank Kim and Stacey there. I know it is their job, but I don't think I could have pulled it off without them.

We had scheduled this trip to Walt Disney World about 6 months prior, not realizing that the Magic Kingdoms "Fantasy in the Sky" presentation was only on Fridays and Saturdays in October. We were to arrive after it, on Saturday. I have a friend (You know who you are, Thank you again!!!!!) who bent a few rules on our air travel for me. If that person hadn't helped, I could not have pulled it off either.

Travel Itinerary: I called Robin up a couple of weeks before we left and told her that there was a problem in re-confirming our flights. It seemed that we got bumped from a 6:30PM flight to a 6:30AM flight. Our original flight number wasn't valid any more. They must have changed the flight numbers, they do that occasionally, and messed up the time by 12 hours. I told her that we didn't want to change it, because at this time we both already knew about the fireworks problem. She bought it!

Arrival at the hotel: When we checked in, there was a note to greet us. It thanked us for allowing them another chance to improve their service, and invited us on a cruise. We were to be "Guests of Honor" for a special viewing of the "Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks" presentation in front of "Magic Kingdom", from "The Best Seat In The World." I read it, handed it to her, and said that this looked fun. She said "Wow, See what complaining gets you! Now I'm really glad they messed up the flights!" Again, She Bought it!

At Dinner: We talked, and had a toast to our dating for so long; we usually acknowledge the monthly anniversary of our first date. Our 28th month anniversary was 3 days prior, and we had said we would celebrate it at Walt Disney World. I told her I was a little tired, and asked her if she wanted to skip the boat ride. She told me that this boat trip seemed special and reminded me how much I wanted to see the fireworks. Again, She Bought it!

On The Dock: When we reached the edge of the pier, there no one else was there. She commented on how busy the boat might be. She asked me if I had an opinion on how many of these invitations went out, I declined comment. The boat backed into the dock, and the crewmember called out our names.

On the Boat: We were given a tour of the "Grand I" 44 foot Sea Ray Yacht, shown the flowers, Champagne, and even the bedrooms. RRBB still didn't realize what was going on. We went up to the bow (Front of the boat) and sat. She thought we had a few more stops to make for additional passengers. We talked a bit as the boat went around the Seven Seas Lagoon. She commented that there was a beautifully romantic full moon; I was quick to take credit for it. She asked me if we were the only ones on this Cruise, I responded to her by suggesting one of my ex-classmates, who works at Walt Disney World must have arranged it when I complained to him. I told her we really needed to thank him. I asked her if she wanted to videotape the fireworks, she agreed.

The Question: I waited till the fireworks started, looked at her and told her that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, then I asked her to marry me. She sat there, I said a few more little things to her, and after about five minutes she asked me if I wanted her answer. I said "Of Course." She said "YES!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Afterwards: We drank a special toast to our engagement of "Iron Horse Fairy Tale Cuvée" Champagne, and she was presented with a glass slipper to commemorate our engagement. The crew commented that she didn't drop the camera, and that I held out till the fireworks started. Timing is, after all, everything

Postscript: The next evening I saw a neat lighted sign that I wanted as a souvenir. Before the Epcot Fireworks, I left her for a few moments. She reprogrammed the sign to say "HE PROPOSED!" Needless to say, she is still showing off the ring...

I purposed last summer at the California Grill. I called 2 months prior to the trip, which was set for late June. I spoke to a special events planner for WDW who suggested the California Grill. I called and spoke to the California Grill’s event specialist who assisted me in planning the following:

June 28th, My Fiancé Robin, my niece Amanda, and I left the CBR at 6PM for dinner reservation at California Grill. We arrived in the CG at about 6:45 (after a mad rush to find a camera—I forgot mine I was so nervous). All of the host/hostesses and the cashier knew about the proposal, but they did a great job of keeping it under wraps. We were seated in a Window table with a center view of C’s castle. Robin was so impressed with the table location when we arrived. She just kept telling me how perfect this trip had been and how good of a job I had done with the planning. We ate dinner, which was some of the best food we have ever eaten at any Disney restaurant. Dinner was strategically planed to be over at about 15 till the firework show. After dinner, our waiter came over and offered us a free complimentary dessert (this was part of the setup). Robin and Amanda jumped on the offer, just as I had hoped. I excused myself for a bathroom break. I met the manager of the CG, and a group of really impressed waitresses and hostesses, and I gave them the ring. I returned to my seat and began to get really nervous. 5 minutes till the fireworks. She kept telling me I looked pale and if I was OK--LOL. Just then the entire wait staff and host/hostesses were lead to our table by the Executive Chief. She was carrying a Silver Dish with a Silver Hood. She lifted the Hood and exposed Ring, which was placed in a Silk Pillow, which was then placed in a glass slipper with our names and date engraved it. The Glass slipper was on a plate that read “Will You Marry Me” in chocolate. I swear she almost fainted. She was stunned. The whole place went silent. I grabbed the ring from the pillow and got on my Knees and asked her to marry me. She said yes very loudly and the whole place erupted in cheers. Right then the lights went dim and the intro for the Firework Show started. We sat and watched the show. It was the wonderful. After the show, all of the patrons came and congratulated us and wished us good luck. Disney made this night more magical than I could have ever done alone. Thank you Walt…….

:earsboy:

I got engaged in Disney World just this past May. My fiance wanted to do it on our last night in front of the castle but it didn't work out. We ended up going to EPCOT (our favorite park) instead. We had a late dinner at the restraunt in Japan where they cook infront of you. After dinner we went strolling around World Show case. (It was 9:30 so the park was closed and no one was around). It was nice standing and looking at the EPCOT ball. They were projecting flowers on it for the Flower and Garden festivle. He started telling me that he loved me and loved our vacation (his first time to WDW). Then he got down on one knee, told me I was the only women he would ever loved pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him.
I screamed yes and pulled him up and held him tight. We both almost started crying, looked at each other and said NO WE CAN"T CRY....we proceeded to laugh and giggle.
It was very lovely and romantic. I was gald no one else was around and we got to have time to our selves.

thank you all !

you all have given him some very cool ideas to think about...

HI ohanafamily,

i would love any information that you can help us out with. i didn't even think of contacting disney for a proposal. i know that there are people who arrange things themselves for a proposal when they get there (like talking to a waiter at a restaurant or something)??

but, thank you for any suggestions that you have!

I am happy to give any help I can. What numbers would you like?

Here are a few things... Pick a resort (maybe even the one you are staying at if they have a nice restaraunt there are some great opportunities there...)

There are also some clubs at Downtown Disney that can arrange something special...

You can charter the Grande1 from the Grande Floriddean for a Wisher cruise (That is what I did it cost about $1,000)

then, if you want it to come way out of left field, Joan over at www.giftsofalifetime.com specializes in "Suprizes".

So, what resort are you staying at, or do you want to arrange something on stage at one of the comedy clubs.....

Let me know (I don't need the exact date, but in August you might be a little close in timing to do some of the items... The Illuminations cruise at EPCOT is probably booked up (it is less expensive than the Grande 1)

So, tell me a little of how you think you want to do this and I can hopefully give you a little better direction...

:jumping2:

Romantic... The resort you said you'll be at, Port Orleans Riverside, has a wonderful horse driven carriage ride (I don't know Riverside's phone #) but 407-WDW-PLAY is where I think you make the reservations for that. There is also Cinderella's Royal Table (the restaraunt in the castle at MK) is a great place to propose as well. If it is timed it right, it can even be done during Wishes. 407-WDW-DINE. With either of these, let them know you will be proposing, and have them put it in the record.

To do it in a "spur of the moment, by the seat of your pants" sort of way...

***there is a nice rose garden in front of the castle, there are also several spots (depending on your demeanor) where the ring can be presented...

***The end of Space Ranger spin, let her win... and give her the prize...

***Before you go into Mission: Space.. I understand that someone died in this ride, I want you to know my love in case I don't make it through  .

***Haunted Mansion in the Library..

***Or Tower Of Terror in the preview room.

***Pirates of the carribean ride

***It's a small world ride

Again, if she has a favorite attraction you can come up with a scenario...

Just a few ideas to start; if this strikes any chords, we can persue them, or if you have any further ideas... you are the one who knows her.

:jumping2:

* Please note that The above quotations were from a PM, The M:S comment was a little tacky, but you can't edit after you send... Also, I do not generally post openly engagement suggestions (on the possibility that the Engagee is on the boards...

My apologies if I offended anyone!!!
