Ok so this is a burning question...you've said your i dos and then you eat cake...
How do you get the top of your cake home to eat on your first Anniversary???

We boxed ours up and took it on the plane. it was the easiest way for us to do it. We had ALOT of cake left and wanted to split it up when we arrived home and give some to each of the parents and obviously keep some for ourselves. Although, don't let your man throw away your chocolate castle just because it gets all crumbled coming home....I wanted to scream and I did. I was like, hon, you know that thing was pure white chocolate...I didn't get to try my white chocolate castle. He, didn't think...he just threw it out. I was so annoyed and now he knows he needs to like desperately find one for when we go this December which will be our first anniversary!

Eh, MEN! LOL!!!

Have A Magical Day!

You might want to try and freeze it first, if you have the means.

We froze our cake topper, left it in the freezer the whole year, and you know, it wasn't too bad on our first anniversary!

Maybe you can get somebody at Disney catering to freeze it for you, then get a little cooler at the Walmart down there to put it in for the trip home.

Just hope the security guys don't want a piece at the airport!

We were married at WL Sunrise Terrace, and stayed at WL for the first 3 nights of our honeymoon, our CM gave our top to the front desk and they froze it for us. We live about 1.5 hours from Disney, so my in-laws drove it home and put it in the freezer for us and now we're waiting for our first anniversary to taste that delicious cake again!

My brother's and my best friend's tasted better on their anniversary than they did at the wedding, so I'm hopeful ours will still taste good!

We took plastic wrap, and tinfoil. We then froze it overnight in the box (we were DVC, but I've heard of very accomidating hotel staff) so that the icing wouldn't stick. The next day we wrapped it in plastic, then foil, and put it back in the freezer. Then when mom checked out she took it home with her on the plane, as carryon. When she got home she foodsaved it and back into the freezer it went. Still have about 7 months before we can try it though. But she said it wasn't too bad bringing home a frozen cake lump hehe.

ok well..it will be al ong plane ride back to NY...so hopefully something like this will work...thanks

I am also a bit worried about this. I live in the UK and i dont think the cake will survive a 9 hour flight! :confused3

I think (when the time comes)...I might freeze it and put it in a small cooler and take it as carry on...
That seemed like the best bet...

I just saw this tip on TV somewhere.

Take the top layer of your cake and slice it into 12 equal slices, freeze it and have one each month of your first year. That way you celebrate each month.

I wish we had done that for our wedding. When we pulled out our cake for our 1st anniversary it was pretty gross.
