Getting Butterflies for AKL

I'm starting to get butterflies in my stomach. I am so excited about staying at AKL for the first time. June 5th can't get here soon enough. I have heard so many good things from the DIS board. I just know we'll love this resort. Hope to see some of you there at this time. (June 5-10) WDW here we come!!!

I've never stayed on disney before and our first time will be at AK June 24th thru July 1st and I can't wait. We were originally going to stay at Pop, but when I called and found out I had a pin attached to my name and heard the price for the AK savanah, I couldn't resist. I am a HUGE animal lover, as is my entire family.
I'm so excited, that I just can't stand it.

It's definitely our favorite resort. Just be sure to take the time to just absorb the atmosphere and the details in the lodge, as well as talk to the employees. Our 13 y/o daughter (surprisingly to us) started talking to some and next thing you know she's asking every one she meets where they're from, about their country, etc. She still says it was the highlight of the trip.

By the way, we've had mixed experiences with the front desk staff, so if they aren't gushingly friendly, don't worry about it. They're very efficient, just not real outgoing sometimes. Everyone else we met was great.

You'll love it!

We just got back from AKL and loved it! We had a savanah room and never got tired of sitting on our balcony and watching the animals. We had never used the bus service until this trip and were so pleased with it that we will never rent a car again. The AKL doesn't share a bus with any resort, so it's never a problem to catch the bus. You will love the sounds and smells of the the resort. The smell coming from the Restaurants is incredible. I can't say enough about the AKL. I am so glad we chose the AKL (thanks to the recommendations of fellow Dis'ers)!

P.S. Be sure to try the delicious paw print brownies! You can find them in the restaurant and food court! Yummie!

I'm on my way to my second stay at AKL -- it has completely spoiled me for staying anywhere else! The atmosphere....music....cooking smells......I can't wait to get home!!!!! And I'll be there Sunday!!!!!

Going back to the AKL in December. It will be my fourth time there. I have thought of trying a resort that I haven't stayed at, but keep coming back to the Lodge.

We'll be there June 1-7 - me, DH and DD 16. Have stayed at AKL several times - it is our favorite WDW resort overall. Hope you have a fabulous trip. If you see a tall blonde with a navy WDW backpack with lime green ribbon attached, that would be me - come say hi!

We will be there for the first time may 27-30th. I bought my package online at disney for three nights(savannah view) and three 3 day park hopper passes. it was just under 1800 for all. Does this sound normal? it FELT expensive to me.

Wow - alot of us will be there the first week of June. We'll be at the AKL from June 3 - June 7. Can't wait!

To answer Trouts question...Yes, it does sound very expensive. I just got back and had a rate of $166 for a Savannah view room. For three nights, that would be $498. That means you are spending about $1300 for Park Hoppers. Our 10 day hoppers were $280 each, so I think you are spending a lot. But conventional wisdom says to try and not book online without a discount code.
