Getting big stroller through airport security?

We will be traveling on Sat. w. a double stroller. It obviously will not fit through the converyor belt. Does it go through the walk through or somewhere else? I just want to be as prepared as possible so we don't hold up people behind us. We're gate checking the stroller, hence getting it through security.

If it doesn't break down small enough to fit on the conveyor, you'll wind up getting hand checked. Definately allow extra time. Additionally, make certain it is cleaned out before the trip to the airport -- they'll be checking it over pretty well, and they'll want your kids removed from it so plan accoringly.

I have travelled several times with our double stroller (Graco) and believe it or not most times it does fit through the Xray machine. You will have to get the kids out and empty it completely as Servants of Evan said. In the grand scheme of things it is not a big deal. The harder part was getting DD to walk though the metal detector without me.

Heads up for young parents. You can practice, having kids walk through doorways before or after you (including in public places such as schools and doctors' offices).

If the stroller is too big for the X-ray machine it can be handled like a wheelchair although the kid(s) cannot be sitting in it.
