Getting back to AKL from MK on NYE?

We are staying at AKL and are thinking about going to dinner at a MK resort and watching the fireworks from there. Afterwards though, does anyone have tips for how to get back to AKL as quickly as possible? I remember on New Years Eve morning one time, we tried to Uber from SSR to MK and we couldn't even get there because of the traffic.

Some thoughts..
Will we be able to Uber or will it be super expensive/ too much traffic?
Will we be able to enter MK after midnight when it has closed and look around at the shops until the bus line dies down?
Is there still entertainment after midnight at the MK resorts that we could do while waiting for the bus line to die down?

Take the bus. Surge pricing will be in effect and traffic will be horrible. Disney busses have dedicated lanes and will be less affected by traffic, although it will still be a factor.

You can't enter a closed park, but I very much doubt that MK will close at midnight.

You may not be allowed at any of the fireworks viewing venues at the resorts unless you are staying at the resort. They do limit this due to so many wanting to attend. You would need an ADR I would think and most, if not all, venues with a view of the fireworks will have NYE parties which are very expensive.

MK will be open until 1:00 or 2:00 but I am not sure how easy it will be to get in as there will be massive numbers exiting the park.

You could walk to MK from there and then grab a bus at about 2:00 am.

You can see the top of the fireworks from Geyser Point at Wilderness Lodge. Boat to MK and bus back to AKL.

That's a good point, although the very best location to watch outside the park isn't at a hotel at all -- it's near the boat dock at the TTC
