getting around the resorts and sites

Our family (13 of us), are going in Sept. to stay at the Carribean Resort.

We have booked some dinners and breakfasts (Chef Mickey).

I am wondering about travelling around..which is fast..how long does it take to get from the Carribean Resort to the MK, Epcot, MGM...Is bus the way you do it? or are there easier ways!

The fastest way to get around is by using your rental car.
That said, we always use Disney transport to travel around the property. Busses come around frequently, cost is included in your room rate, you can watch all the accidents from the bus window instead of being involved
Bus ride from CBR to parks is only a few minutes for Epcot and MGM, maybe 10 -15 mins for MK and AK.
I'm sure you'll get other opinions here as well.

For a party of 13, however, that would be 2-3 rental cars.

In addition, I would say those times are accurate for the travel from CBR to the various parks only after you leave the resort. Those times don't include any time waiting for a bus and, in the case of CBR, any time that may be required for the bus to make other stops within CBR itself. The way CBR works, you could be getting on at the last internal stop before the bus leaves the resort grounds for a park, or you could make several stops at other bus stations withing CBR before you leave the resort grounds.

A rule of thumb should be to plan on 45-60 minutes to go from a resort to a park, and 60-90 minutes if you need to go from resort to resort.

We have never stayed at a Disney Resort, let alone a huge gathering like this!

We have booked one breakfast, and many dinners together...I really appreciate knowing how much time it will take to get somewhere.

How about getting from Park to Park? I know the monorail goes from MK to Epcot (doesn't it?). Where to you catch the bus to go fromm MK to AK for example???

The monorail has two lines. One from TTC to Epcot and the other serves the MK resorts, along with the MK and the TTC.

You cannot catch any buses from the MK to any other park. Most people will tell you to monorail over to the TTC for buses to the other parks. What we did on our last trip was to take the ten minute walk from the MK to the CR and took the bus to the AK from there. You can also monorail over to the CR or the Poly or GF to get buses to the other parks.
